I'd probably have mentioned them if I had made a list, but I don't think I've heard enough 2011 music to make a good one.
I did like the DTP albums and One though. _________________

I forgot to mention Rainbowdragoneyes' The Primordial Booze on both of the lists I composed. It really is a fantastic blend of the usual chiptunes sound with his generally pretty heavy vocals. To put it bluntly, it's a badass EP. _________________

According to my iTunes, here are the albums I have that came out in 2011 (I have no idea what order these are in, really)
Turisas - Stand Up And Fight. Really enjoyed this.
Single White Infidel - No One Listens to Skate Punk Anymore. I do, and I haven't listened to it much but it was pretty good.
Rainbowdragoneyes - The Primordial Booze. My most listened-to album that released in 2011 (I like it).
Opeth - Heritage. Haven't spent much time with this, it's a little different for Opeth compared to their older stuff but this is a little easier to recommend to people.
Myrath - Tales of the Sands. Tunisian prog/power metal, very unique sound. Not one of my favorites, but it gets a spin every once in a while.
Mastodon - The Hunter. Not my favorite Mastodon album, but viewed without context it's still good music. A little disappointing though because I would have loved something more like Crack the Skye.
Black Dahlia Murder - Ritual. I don't listen to music like this a lot, but when I'm in the mood for it this is a good album.
Between the Buried and Me - Parallax: The Hypersleep Dialogues. Yeah this is good.
Alestorm - Back Through Time. Just picked this up recently, and I don't think it's as good as their last album but more pirate metal is always good. _________________

Larry and His Flask - All That We Know
These guys are great. Saw these guys at Warped this year and they are now one of my personal favorites. This album is very good as well.
Breathe Carolina - Hell Is What You Make It
I've been listening to BC since the beginning, and this album, in my opinion, got them noticed. Mostly because of "Blackout".
Neighborhoods - blink-182
Well, why the hell not? It took them two years to make this album. They had multiple dates for this album, and they finally release it last year.
The Human Abstract - Digital Veil
No comment. They were good nonetheless.
That's it. Other than those, I listened to music from, like, 1992. _________________

In all honesty I remembered it as a 2010 release for some reason, though that would definitely be on my list as well (Eden is one of my favorite songs of the year) _________________

I'm still only in the process of listening enough of the 2011 released albums, but I guess this is also more of a "what you listened during 2011" as well.
But yeah, I'll probably go with Gang Gang Dance's "Eye Contact". Took me way too long to start liking it, but a solid package from start to finish. And M83's "Hurry up, We're Dreaming" fills the pop-music gap very well. Midnight City, with the gorgeous sax solo, just refuses to get old. |

I just listened to Weightless by Animals As Leaders a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that I like it better than the first album. _________________

Weightless is by no means as good as s/t in my eyes. It was solid, but it lacked that something that AaL had on their (well, his, at that point) first album that made it such an outstanding piece.
Also you literally have the worst taste in banners I have ever seen in my life, please go do something about that before I gouge my eyes out. _________________

I've been waiting for someone to say this. This album is so good.
Other than Wasting Light, I haven't listened to new albums. I've heard new songs, but not albums. _________________

Weightless lacked the musical uniqueness that the S/T had. Tobin Abasi is a musical genius and could twist and bend chord progressions in a way I'd never heard of. Weightless was a bit more simplistic when it came to that regard. Still, both albums have songs I always skip, but when something works, it fucking WORKS. _________________
