How much does Playstation Network cost on PS3 (of course)? I heard it was free, but I wanted to make sure...I am saving up my money to buy a Playstation 3, and will also get GH:WoR..(I might even be getting a PS3 for free)
My other option was Xbox 360, but you have to pay to play online...I heard that was $50.00 a year |

The only other thing to consider is that online play on PS3 for Guitar Hero and Rock Band is almost dead. The only time you will get any players is during Community Nights.
I'm not going to get into the whole XBL vs. PSN debates, but you should check out the advantages of Gold over PSN's normal service. Also consider checking out PSN's upgraded plans(dunno what it's called). |

I also am not going to get into a debate, but if you plan on playing RB very much, you might want to consider the 360 instead, as it's the only console with full RBN support. (The RBN has as much content as HMX has put out, so it's a very important part of the RB platform.)
I would also agree that the PS3 seems to have population issues, and if that's something you think would be an issue, then you may wish to reconsider.
Lastly, do your research on the advantages of each and decide. _________________

Worldwide the 360 has sold 3.8 million more units than the PS3. So technically if you want to do online play, 360 would be the way to go, since there's a chance of finding 3.8 million more people than you would on the PS3, although NOT ALL XBOX LIVE PLAYERS HAVE XBOX LIVE so this general assumption is flawed. Personally speaking though, I would have to go with the 360, $50.00 a year is still a very good investment if you play online a lot (I get my moneys worth in 1 day of playing when I get home from work).
Going on what inv4der said, If you play Rockband and want full RBN access, then get the 360. _________________

actually full price is now $60 for 12 months--however, if you pay more than $35, you are getting ripped off. It is seriously always on sale for 30-35 on newegg so never spend more than that _________________

Another thing to consider is that people seem to have a hard time connecting to other online players on PSN (not just with randoms, but with people on their friend list, see this thread on the official forums for details).
PSN has PSN Plus which costs money, and that basically gives you discounts on some things, some free downloadable games, and cloud storage of your save game files. _________________

If the main reason you are getting a PS3/360 is for rhythm games, then yes, get the 360 unless you really don't want to pay for XBL.
If you also plan on playing a lot of other games then I'd just look at the exclusives for each system (and the other advantages/disadvantages for each) and pick whichever one has the most games you'd like to play. _________________

Get a 360 if you want to play any type of Rhythm Games. PS3 is pretty good when it comes to any other game genre ever. _________________

I play on ps3 and I can assure WoR is far from dead. The connectivity issues / bugs are horrendous. Constant disconnects at times, but when its working it is awesome. I was shocked that it was never patched, that is how bad it is. My guess is the online was developed for xbox and never optimized for ps3. There is no lack of players at any time of the day, but staying connected to said players is a real bitch.
Side note- if you are having trouble finding players, try connecting to the shop, then going back to search. |

Another factor to consider with PS3 vs. 360 is the quality of the console and it's peripherals.
We all know how flimsy the drumsets for Rock Band were (save the RB3 kit) but they appear to be much more sturdy on PS3. I had a 360 for 4 years and remember sending in my Drumset on multiple occasions to Harmonix so they could fix it. Oddly enough, my PS3 drumset can take a real beating and I've never had to replace it.
If you're going to be using the Console for other things as well, then there are exclusives to consider.
Do you want to play Halo, Fable, or Gears of War?
Or Uncharted, Infamous, Resistance, Little Big Planet, God of War, Killzone, Starhawk, & other titles like Twisted Metal.
These are all things that need to be looked at. Then you have hardware failure rates, whether or not you want to replace batteries every so often, Free online play vs paying for online play, etc.
It's a simple matter of preference _________________
