I am a newbie... And I was wondering what is the hardest song to learn and out of the following how would you rank them? 1 being the hardest down to 4 easiest.
Decontrol
Take It Off
Caveman Rejoice
Fat Lip
Story Of My Love
Thanks for the help in advance.

In terms of expert mode I'd say:
Cowboys From Hell
Bark at the Moon
Decontrol
After those it's a bit of a tossup based on how tired I am.
Out of the ones you posted I'd proabably put Take it Off down at the bottom. After some practice this one became fairly easy for me. |

The hardest part (I found) with Caveman Rejoice was the 2+4, 1+3, 2+4 chord switch bit. Once you get that nailed, the rest of the song is relatively straightforward.
Looking at the high score holders, it's kind of interesting. I can play just about anything that doesn't involve super fast strumming quite well, but songs like CFH, The Breaking Wheel and BATM just screw me up.
Give me Fat Lip and Take It Off any day :P |

I agree with that. Texas Flood is easier to beat, but harder to 5-star. But, I will never, ever 5 star any song in the final set on Expert. I've beaten them, sure, but I'll never 5 star them. I don't alternate strum or HO/PO. >_>. Yeah, I strum every note, always down. The lone exception is that one part in Texas Flood with all the Oranges. Other than that, it's all down.
I mainly play that way for two reasons.
1: It's harder, and I like to challenge myself.
2: I just... can't do the HO/POs. Alternate strum I can probably learn to do more often, but HO/POs will never happen. Yes, I'm weird. |

For the hammer ons & pull offs, practice on Fat Lip and Take Me Out. There are parts in there that have slow triplets that go right up the neck and you can just practice hammering on. I have problems with pull offs too, but I find that speed picking usually eliminates the issue all together
Oh and I'm using a real pick and I alternate strum the bar. |

i tried that.. i thought it was noisy, some of my friends like it
my advice for hammer ons and pull offs is actually texas flood
even if you cant keep a constant streak, its good practice
and dont worry i dont alternate pick unless completely necesary either
thats why i go to sleep after i play higher ground _________________

BatM and CfH are the only 2 songs I haven't completed yet on Expert. |

Me too! I'm getting closer though. I'm starting over trying to 5-star everything in easy, medium, and hard to build my fundamental skills, especially HOPOs. |

I'd like to see a statistical analysis of the "hardest" song(s) based on submitted scores. I'm not sure the best formula for determining this, though... It really depends on how you want to measure difficulty. You could go be average percentage of notes struck, or average streak... Average score compared to the highest score. Largest number of users with 5 stars...
Your guess is as good as mine on how to compare the difficulty. Plus, difficulty is subjective... Some people just don't 'get' certain styles/genres of music. All the same, if anyone wants to give it a whirl based on the data, I think it'd have some interesting results. |

Maybe based on the lowest % of scores with 5 stars on a given song? |
