Quote: | Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is Rumored to add additional peripherals like the ones in Harmonix's Rock Band. |
The following is from the press release at Red Octane's site. Maybe the release they initially sent out had an error in it. I hardly think Best Buy made up that information about the drums, etc. in their description. If anyone is "moronic" it's the person who sent BB that release with the mistakes in it.
"Fire up the fret board, crank the amp to 11 and get ready to rock this way with Activision, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®, the first game built around the legendary music of America’s Greatest Rock ‘N Roll Band: Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer. Slated for release this June, this latest installment from the franchise with the #1 best-selling video game in 2007, puts players in the shoes of Perry (guitar), Whitford (guitar) and Hamilton (bass), as they rock out alongside frontman Tyler and drummer Kramer. Gamers will experience Aerosmith’s GRAMMY® winning career, from their first gig to becoming rock royalty, in a way that no other entertainment vehicle offers."

I checked the BB site, and i dont see anythign about other peripherals in their description either, its close ot word for word the same as the official PR (which is to be expected), so i have no idea what you are talkign abotu here. The only people rumoring other peripherals are game sites which (as Tahmer rightly points out) are purely specualting, as far as i can see (anybody with a link that contradicts this please supply). Really the idea that there would be other instruments too is a pipe dream and doesnt even rise at this time to the level of informed rumor to be worth quoting in this guide. That PR pretty clearly implies its just guitar in the game (which is obviously the by far most likely scenario, the chance of other instruments is slim to none), as they say that the guitarists and bassists are playable characters and they mention that you play alongside tyler and kramer, which implies they are unplayable characters. If they were playable characters but acti/RO wanted to hold onto that data for a while then chances are youd have seen it written in a more ambiguous way so that the later PR announcing that would not directly conradict the previous one (a no-no in terms of PRs). _________________

Aerosmith is a really lame plot to a guitar hero game, But still i'll buy it for new songs and achievements. |

I think the biggest reason that we won't see additional instruments is that, much like Rocks the 80's, these expansion packs are designed to be quick/dirty ways to generate more revenue using a finished game engine. Put in a few new characters, venues and a new batch of songs, and sell the game to everyone for a second time.
GHIV, on the other hand, would be a prime time to make substantial changes to the engine in order to keep themselves from being seen as a hard version of Rock Band without the drums or vocals. |

Love in an Elevator and Sweet Emotion will shred though. Some badass solos in those two. |
It's possible that they could, based on what they did for Dream On, rerecord the song.
I'm sure they could easily play the piano parts on guitar. |

Isn't Dream On officially confirmed? Didn't the DLC description say that it was a preview of a song that will be on GH:Aerosmith? |

I read something about them doing the tiers vaguely chronologically? That would make it a final tier song....so i'm expecting that after everyone whines about how they don't want to play this song, it'll get the CoP treatment and be most peoples favourite (like how there was much bitching about EWWS before it was released...). |
