You all know what these are. Like in the stock reports they all have little red(bad) or green(good) arrows to show the trend in the stock price. go to http://www.nasdaq.com/ to see lots of examples.
If the stock is rising there is a green arrow showing the amount up since the previous day.
Likewise...
If a player moved up 5 places since the day before, a green arrow with a "+5" would show in the ranking page.
Just a thought. |

This is a great idea. It wouldn't be hard at all to implement either, I'd think. _________________

Well, the thing is the stock market opens and closes at specific times each day so it's easy to store the stock prices after closing and show the changes the following day. The site, on the other hand, is running 24/7 so it's less logical to define a time of day to store the ranks to compare to the previous day. For example, you might improve a song by 50 ranks at 11:59 and then one minute later the progress arrow would be gone. I'll have to think about this some more. _________________

maybe it could refresh weekly.
Update Sunday @ midnight. That is when the new week starts for most people anyways. |

JCirri, just have a field for yesterday's rank, and the day before. Compare yesterday to the day before...while the change won't be reflected instantaneously, it will show the net worth of a player over a 24 hour period.
This would require a tabulation of said things for each player at the same time each night, though, and might not be worth the trouble. Dunno what the back end of your database looks like.
Then again, the weekly thing might be better. |

i think the weekly change would be better because not everyone moves around that much i dont think in just one day, but in a week im sure there is plenty of movement on the site |

Here is a thought I had a few days ago and posted in another thread:

I also think it would be nice to see how much your overall ranking has changed. If it's not possible to update on a daily basis it would still be cool to see how much your ranking has changed, on say, a weekly basis.
What I have in mind is somewhat comparable to how billboard.com operates its web site...ideas would include showing a player's peak ranking and where they ranked last week compared to this week (possibly highlight players who have made the greatest gains in one week's time). _________________
