I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but here goes.
I'm contemplating buying an iPod Touch (I have no money/job now, so it will be quite a while before I actually do) and I want to know what's the situation with Last.fm with them.
I looked at the official app and it says that it only works as a radio (like on the 360), and that's not what I want. I want it to scrobble what I listen to on it (the iPod). I saw people talking about MobileScrobbler and checked it out, and sounds kind of like what I want, but it requires that you jailbreak it (which have no problem doing).
Anyone here have any experience with either the official app or MobileScrobbler? The only reason I even really want the iPod Touch is because I was under the impression that I could scrobble from it, which I can't do with my current mp3 player (a phone, actually: an LG Rhythm), and I'd like to scrobble when I listen to music in my car.
Also, about the iPod itself: how is the sound quality? I'm a bit of an audiophile, I'll admit, and that's one thing I like about my phone...that it sounds so good. I've never owned an iPod before. The only mp3 players I've had are the aforementioned phone and a Creative Zen which I thought lacked in the sound quality department (or maybe it was just too quiet, thinking back I'm not sure). |

you can set up your computer scrobbler to scrobble all the tracks on your ipod every time you hook it up to your computer. plus if you jailbreak it there are apps like scobbl that do it in real time if you are in wifi.
As for sound quality. It it an ipod and its main purpose is to play music, so its pretty good. |

Sixen is right, whenever you sync your iPod/phone to your computer Last.FM detects it an scrobbles the plays it finds. The only thing with this is that I've had a lot of problems with the iPod scrobbler in the past, it either only scrobbling portions of what I listened to to none at all, or just repeating a small section of what I listened to over and over. This may just be my iPod though, which is a piece of shit ever since it went through the wash in my pants pocket. _________________

Well, you could say that about that Creative Zen I had, but I was unimpressed with that. On the other hand, both my nephew and a friend of mine have an iPod Touch, and I've been generally impressed with what I heard. I was just looking for some confirmation.

I knew this, but I guess I forgot about it when I posted. I've seen people mention the same problem you had, so I don't think it's an isolated incident (unless, of course, that was also you) and that's a bit of an issue to me, so I wouldn't want to have to rely on that.
Thanks guys. I'll probably get one when I have the chance. |

Some explanation needed: Mine and my girlfriend's "song" is by MCR, so it has loads of plays, which is why they're 3rd on my most listened. _________________

Not entirely accurate, I don't listen to music on my computer that much since I don't play games on it that much anymore due to it being a piece of crap >_>
Also, I often listen to stuff on loop, and sometimes leave it on overnight, which is why Flock of Seagulls is somewhere on the top of my artists list, since I left I Ran on overnight or something. _________________
