Maybe I haven't explained the genre particularly well in the title, but I don't know enough about it, if I'm honest, to classify it further.

The kind of music I'm talking about is, to give some examples, Vertical Horizon, Matchbox Twenty and The Calling.

I'm not a huge Calling fan, but the other two bands are personal favourites of mine that I've seen surprisingly little love for from SH members (after all, they're not metal). Any other people on here also fans?

Serious advice now: No-one likes indecision in their work, so find what you like that you're even remotely good at, and stick with it. Don't flit from one thing to another, because that just smacks of a large lack of determination and drive. And people don't like you for that, and won't remember you for it. I mean, I get that you have a plucky spirit and a willingness to try new things, but there's a limit, man.
I might knock it down to just Thursday and Friday.

Nirvana great band

You mentioned "Matchbox 20" in the OP. One of my best mates cousin is the bass player in that band like no joke He got me free tickets to there concert last year.
Don't know the calling or Vertical Horizon will look into them.

When ever I hear Alt Rock and 90's I instantly think of Pearl Jam haha even though I really don't like them...

...God Even Flow is annoying

I'm gonna say that the bands that really say 90's like whenever you here what are the best bands of the 90's are Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots

Nirvana are a great band, one of my favourites in fact. Personal favourite song by them? Lithium. Cobain is (was) also my favourite lyricist ever and one of my biggest inspirations and influences.

Vertical Horizon are probably my second favourite band ever (right behind BTBAM). Also pretty good lyrically, in my opinion. Soundtrack to my teenage years.

Easily, one of the most underrated bands of the 90's. The Gin Blossoms. They are phenomenal.

The Bodeans are another great band. Representin' Wisconsin!

Huge soundgarden, Nirvana, AIC fan, as well. I just love the whole 90's alternative scene.

Yes, Gin Blossoms are great! Also, Toad The Wet Sprocket and Third Eye Blind comes to mind.

Incubus. (Past Morning-view I guess)

Recently A crow left of the Murder hasn't left my cd player. I love that album, it's not my favourite Incubus album, but it's still an awesome piece of work.

Will you be downloading the new album? Despite having only the greatest hits album, I really like Pumpkins.

This album is every development in 90's rock music in a nutshell.

311, Eagle Eye Cherry, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, Fuel, Smashing Pumpkins, The Big 4 of Grunge, Eve 6, Prodigy, RATM, Silverchair, RHCP, Butthole Surfers, Blind Melon... I could go on forever. Quite possibly one of my favorite genres of all-time, and it's a variety of sub-genres too if you think about it.

Does My Bloody Valentine fit into this category? They're shoegaze more than anything if you wanna get into a subgenre, but it's probably closer to alternative rock than anything else. Loveless is possibly my favorite album of all time. Kevin Shields has done a little solo work, notably on the Lost in Translation soundtrack--it's a little more electronic but I imagine anyone that enjoys MBV's sound would like it too.

Also, mad props to the folks recalling the Gin Blossoms, which, along with Aerosmith, was my first "favorite band." The first few times I heard the song "Hey Jealousy," I actually thought it was "Hey Jesse," hah. I actually saw them in concert a few years ago and even though it evolved (as expected) into a sort of "greatest hits" concert (mostly from New Miserable Experience of course), they did kick the show off with some new numbers, and they had a crapload of energy throughout. Robin Wilson, their vocalist, actually took a few cell phones and cameras from some lucky folks up front and took pictures of himself, the band, and the audience in the middle of their act. Neat stuff.

I'm a huge fan of MBV as well, one of my current favorite bands. I was actually going to make a Shoegaze thread here similar to the one we have on the Rock Band forums since that would be a better place to discuss MBV and the like, I may just do that within the next few days.
