I don't know why but the last few times I've played, it doesn't seem to want to save the game...

I'm new to the realm of ps2...i only got one so i could have this game, and it's the only game I've ever played on ps2...so I know nothing about the memory cards..

why won't it save my progress? I'll never get guitar god

First, make sure Auto-Save is checked under the Data Options menu (Options --> Data Options --> Autosave). If that's checked, any time you buy anything or increase a song's star rating, it'll automatically save for you.

If you need to save score improvements (i.e.: You barely 5-star a song, and then go back and crush your old score by 100k) you have to manually save it.

Go to Options --> Data Options --> Save Game.

Or, if you already have Auto-Save on, just change either your guitarist, guitar, or paint job, or buy something from the Unlock Shop and it'll automatically save.

the fastest way to manually save a game while playing is,
- hit exit when finished song
- change your guitar
- then resume career

this will save your game if auto save is activated and will save you from having to click through all those menus

It doesn't seem to want to save for me if I just go switch guitars, so I've just been unlocking skins. Might have to do a full backout and manually save if I run out, though. *shudder*

It won't save instantly when you switch guitars.. you have to go back into play a live show after changing the guitar and it will save your game before it goes to the set list.

Are you going back to the song list in career after you change guitars and do you have auto save on?
it dosn't save if you just change them and exit.
