Why only 1-3? 4, 5, and 6 all have equally amazing soundtracks. Honestly, 3 and 5 are probably the least memorable to me.

At least 1-4, imo.

I was just mentioning the ones I've listened to outside of the games. I guess you're right though, I fixed my post :U

No one mentions the Protomen? I guess they're not 8-/16-bit or covers of soundtrack tunes, but they make good vaguely-folkish rock music about Megaman.

^This one's a lot better, though.

^This one really makes me appreciate all that went into the original song. It sounds impossible to play now that it's 8-bit.

Heh, cheers.

I should probably admit at this point that I can't claim any sort of skill - it's no more complicated than generating (or just finding) a MIDI file and putting it into a program - but I manage to keep myself amused for a while by trying to find songs that would work well as real 8-bit game soundtracks (of which I have a couple that I'll probably put up tomorrow)... and just messing around with songs I like.

*CTRL-F: "Machin--"*

Machinae Supremacy wasn't mentioned?!?!?!

They're self-proclaimed SID metal, since they use a SID chip to recreate oldschool game sounds. Their Sidology trilogy is epic:

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzX7MY2U41k
Part 2: First half http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcpsVf2bOaE (best one)
Second half http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i8hU6zM1RQ
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZoSLqpUCx8

For an original song by them, this one is epic:

Wow, those really are epic. So is that like 16 bit after the SID chip? I'm not quite sure how it works. Also it sounds really good with the real instruments behind the synths.

But the 8bitsbrothers do alot of 8 bit conversions of metal and prog songs on Youtube and some of them sound fantastic, my personal favorite is definitely

Ya, I've said many times that If Opeth started in 1980 instead of 1990, they'd be ridiculously well known and popular as their music would've been perfect for Castlevania and Doom.

Listen to the part at 5:28 in the song I linked. I would've played any game over and over to listen to that haha.

Listen to 8 bit Voice of the Soul and tell me that's not the single greatest game over song in existence!
