Be happy you have a kit to begin with. All I have is a $300 electronic kit.

my kit cost far less than that and is also like 12 years old (and by that I mean I've had it for at least 12 years and my parents bought it used so I actually have no idea how old it is)

I won't have you bashing electronic kits. They're better than acoustic in almost every way.

Live performance? I think not.

Get some good speakers, and they're fine.

edit: nevermind, I don't want this idiotic argument in my thread. Go somewhere else if you want to make stupid claims.

I wish to make this claim here. Worth noting is that you have provided no argument outside of "This is so wrong I want to throw up". At least OpenYourEyes actually branched out from that elitist mentality you display without regret.

If you want to argue that, make a new thread instead of doing it in a thread where it's completely off topic. I'd prefer if you didn't whine about it in here

Just so you get a "real answer" - acoustic kits generate sounds directly from your hits, electronic kits generate sounds by quantizing your hits. Acoustic kits = infinite range of expressiveness, electronic kits = finite range of expressiveness.

Acoustic kits are also clunkier, louder in a private residence, harder to set up, not compact, generate less bounce and take up much more space.

For live performances and big crowds, yes, I will concede that acoustics are better; no argument could be made there. For most everything else, though, they're inferior to their electric counterparts (in my somewhat humble opinion).

so even you admit that for the only area that truly matters for instruments, which is sound quality, acoustic sets are hands down better than electronic kits. Great, I'm glad we had this discussion.

edit: but seriously, go the fuck somewhere else.

Richard, if you want to have an argument about electric drumkits being supposedly better than acoustic, make your own thread and do it. Don't have this argument here because this thread isn't about that, it is about Pope's drum cover (which is a good cover, I never knew he played drums...or was a gym nut :P).
