Apologies if this has been brought up before...
I've been using a technique for held notes and I was wondering if others used it as well. When there is a long held note/chord followed immediately by another chord that may be difficult to reach cleanly, I'll slide different finger(s) onto the held buttons, without letting up on them, so that I can reach the next position without losing precious points for ending the chord early.
I guess I've been doing it for a while, but I just recently noticed that I was doing it. I'm a keyboard player, and keyboard players do that kind of thing all the time, so I guess that's why I was doing it without even thinking.
It seems to be quite useful to me for squeezing out all the points you can for held notes; anybody else tried it?

Yeah, I do every chance I get. Most notable songs are Sharp Dressed Man, You Got Another Thing Comin', and BATM, but I'm sure there are many more I do this on without thinking much about it. Very useful indeed. _________________

I tend to try to enter chords with a positioning that will make the next note easier to reach. Like if it goes from GY to BO I will use my index and middle finger to play the GY so my ring finger and pinky are already in position.. I do use this sometimes, though. I'm okay at fast chord changes. I can't do solos to save my life, though. _________________

I slide my fingers all over the guitar. Sometimes I player the yellow-blue-orange with my pointer, middle and ring finger. It all just depends on the situation and which fingers you are most comfortable with. |
