|
|
This game has taken over my life (again) after seeing this place and saying, "Maybe I'll try to 4-star some expert songs..." and it's turned into an addiction. I'm certainly not gunning for top honors anywhere around here, but I'd at least like to fill this spot.
I was searching around for something about this and I found a little here and there in a few other threads, and I sincerely apologize for this being my first post... but it just hit me today why I can't do any better.
I'm hammering on, getting the note, and strumming afterwards. The beginning isn't so bad but the B-O B-O B-Y GY HO/PO's are killing me. The timing of them seems to be completely spotty when actually trying to HO and no matter how fast I hit the Os after the Bs, I randomly get the HOs.
So what's the consensus? Play every note, or actually HO those notes? I feel silly asking on a song like this but I feel like it shouldn't be any problem, it isn't fast and it isn't hard to play, but I'm forced to adjust from simply playing it to playing it around the mechanics of the game and I'm not quite sure how to :/ |

The timing is spotty on HOPO's in this game. Harmonix is improving them for the second game. For now, I strum every note, as do most of the top players from what I gather. Especially on this song, there is enough time to comfortably strum every note. Hell, with a little practice you'll be 5 starring this song in no time. _________________

Don't feel bad, Slut.
I've 5-starred CFH and TBW on Expert, but I just can't seem to do it with Cochise. |

I had a lot of problems with those notes. Are you sure you're not hitting them too close together?
I started trying to hammer them, then switched to alternate strumming, then finally to just down strumming. I think the B and O notes sound like they should be a lot closer together than they are placed, so I found that I was generally rushing the O note. Downstrumming only controls that because I can't do it that fast. |

ditto here...except I don't think I ever bothered trying to HO/PO. I started by alternate pick those..and found it was too fast..so I forced slow-down by downstrumming only. |

As many have said, strum both notes, don't go for the HO. HO/PO's suck. _________________

Hrm, I'll have to try that. I wish I had more time, and I've found after a 12 hour day of work that playing the game is a completely futile effort, my mind is just shot.
I'm fairly sure I've tried going all down, but it seems I just can't get it, and that I constatly try something different. I guess I should do a few runs doing the same thing on every pass to see what works best. Eventually it'll click I guess, like the GRGs in No One Knows. |

Your issue may be timing then...make sure you start in front of the beat...the orange note falls on the beat |

Actually the orange notes DO NOT fall on the beat...the blue notes fall on the downbeats...you can see it if you look at the note charts. Once I figured that out, I got it every time. And by the way, I just alternate strum that part...I find it's much more accurate than trying to HO/PO- you should give it a shot. _________________

I certainly don't WANT to HO/PO in any part of the song, but the way I play (and the way it's layed out) makes it very difficult to avoid doing so |
