* Connect retry #99 195.68.206.250 (6667)

* Unable to connect to server (Software caused connection abort)

Yeah, sounds like a firewall/anti-virus thing (some AVs block everything on typical IRC ports... stupid things)
Try connecting to Prothid.CA.US.GameSurge.Net:5960 |
Note: I have no clue WTF any of that means. _________________

This might be useful to some experiencing inconsistent connections / ping timeouts / lag (Gee, I can't think of anyone notorious for IRC lagging, hmm)...
Current GameSurge IRC Servers
Switching to the NY/NJ servers usually improved lag/ping time for me. It's of course imperative that you troubleshoot your connection from your ISP FIRST, and make sure you aren't closing ports with your AV or firewall software second. Maybe this could resolve your connectivity problems, DaBalm... _________________

Do you have McAfee VirusScan? It automatcally blocks IRC ports for some (no) reason. Try what I said in Alakaiser's post, cause that uses a non-standard IRC port. That would narrow it down a bit as to what's causing the problem. _________________

ok, well i am VERY unfamiliar with IRC and I really dont know how it works and what i'm supposed to do, but this is what i have been doing...
1.) I start up IRC and click continue
2.)The mIRC options pops up and I click on servers
3.)I find Gamesurge and open that folder
4.)The Gamesurge has two seperate folders, Random Server and Random EU Server
5.)I then try and connect to all three at seperate times and i get that Software caused connection abort with all three.
6.)I try typing in the Prothid.CA.US.GameSurge.Net:5960 and I still get the same message
So again, I dont know how IRC works and i dont know what any of this crap means, so what should I try next or what am i doing wrong? |

Don't bother finding the server, skip all that and follow the instructions in the first post (typing /server irc.gamesurge.net, etc)
It should be simpler that way. |

Anyone know how to be on multiple servers on IRC at once? I'm on cyanide for other reasons, and I really don't want to use 2 windows... but I know you can do it... is it: /server add irc.gamesurge.net ? _________________
