It should go without saying, but let's just get this out there first, no sharing or posting of the .dtb files is allowed! They are protected under copyright and do belong to Activision/RedOctane and/or Harmonix.

Introduction

Now that we can edit the .dtb files found within the game, there are tons of new things we can do to edit the game further than ever before. We have been using Nachyoz's original thread to discuss new things to change and edit, but most of what we've found is going to be lost in the multiple pages and won't get archived in one place.

So let us use this thread to discuss things that can be changed and edited in the .dtb files. If you find something cool that you can change and it works in game, please share what you did and I'll update this post with the instructions and proper credit. I'll get the ball rolling.

All of the editing is done in Nachyoz's GH2DTBEdit program unless otherwise stated. Follow the instructions in the Readme for its use.

The following guides are in this sub-category for a reason, they are advanced DTB editing techniques and should not be taken lightly, it is much easier to screw up your DTB file, so make sure you have a backup handy.

I'm glad someone did this, an "idiot guide" to that topic, if you will.

I was trying to follow that thread to get all the info and I couldn't keep up. Thanks Carrot (and Nachyoz )

Carrot, thank you SO much for compiling this and posting it here; I was very much getting lost in those pages. Now, can we actually use Nachyoz's program to edit these files, or will we need to hex-edit them? Could you spell out the process for dummies like me, please? I'd much appreciate it.

I wonder if you can change the number of songs.. that would be great if you could just add songs in bonus section and never had to take out one song to add another

People should give their suggestions as far as text-replacement ideas go :-p
Now that we can edit so much more, what could possibly go in place of those loading comments and stuff, you know?

It's like....I WANT to replace EVERYTHING. But at the same time, I don't have any lame guitar jokes that I can throw in there

Obviously, people create their custom discs to cater to their preference and personality, but if anyone has any cool ideas or whatever for stuff to replace, you should throw it in here!

You use GH2DTBEdit.exe, which comes with the name changer utility to edit this stuff. While you can use a hex editor (which will be needed for some hacks), it is much easier to just use Nachyoz's program. The readme that he includes with the download should be enough to get anyone up to speed on this stuff.

Is there a DTB file that could change the Hyper speed's speed?
It would be awesome to make hyper speed even faster...

hacked the scoring.dtb, changed note points from 50 to 500, changed multiplyers from 2x@10notes, 3x@20 notes, and 4x@30 notes to 2x@10 notes, 4x@15 notes and 5x@20notes

video Monkey Wrench: 5,010,285

figured i'd just show going up to over a million then cut to the newspaper. so far i have had little success with going over 9x with or without star power. only got it to work once, and it won't even work again on the same song on the same disk. and, right now, it'll freeze if you miss a note. however, the point weight of a single gem, at least at 500, does not cause the game to crash

This by far is the best idea that needs to be explored and worked on but I don't know how it would work you would have to have the ability to add new song folders to the songs folder and properly point the game to them so I'm not very hopeful.

If you can get that to work the opposite way, you win at hacking. I'd love Ultraspeed. (or Megaspeed, or whatever you want to call it...)

well for the trach speed has some one tried changing the fps?

im guessing with a higher fps it woud move faster since it would be going through more frames per second... some one test this...

the fps is in track_graphics and is not too far from the top under keyword fps

We've always had to worry about cheating with custom songs, same thing applies with DTB editing. Most people are really good about not cheating though, and the mods are really good about getting rid of bogus scores. It's not like this is the 360 online leaderboards that have zero moderation.
