I only have +R, and I don't know the difference between + and -R. |

Try it and find out if it works for you. Some PS2's can read them just fine, some have trouble with them. _________________

Sry to inform you but this is not true in any way. Many people I know on this site can only get +R's to work (even though I use -R's just because that's what I saw at the store first)
So go ahead and use +R's if they work for you, it kind of depends on the PS2. _________________

The differences between -R and +R are very minimal, and nothing serious to be considered except that there are be compability issues between DVD readers, and DVD+R was developed by a different group of people.
DVD+R tends to have just a little bit less space compared to DVD-R (Roughly ~7 megabytes.), and writing data to DVD-R is slightly faster than writing to DVD+R.
DVD+R is told to be safer compared to DVD-R, because writing onto a DVD+R is more error-free compared to DVD-R, and DVD+R is more likely able to survive from a fault occured in writing/hardware etc. (Note that this isn't probably the case on scratched disks etc. At least I haven't noticed any kind of a considerable difference.)
Now what must be noted is that PS2 was released before DVD+R was implemented. If you have an old version of PS2, use a DVD-R as it is hard to determine/configure if an old PS2 is able to run DVD+R. (And while it could run a DVD+R, DVD-R would be much better choice, if you want to ensure your discs to work smoothly and properly.)
I don't know the exact PS2 model number which allowed DVD+R to be read, but according to Wikipedia PS2 article, section 6.1, compability for DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs was added onto PS2 during version 9 of development. The chances are that DVD+R disc compability was revisioned into PS2 on about version 5 to version 8 of development.
(Note that DVD-RW or DVD+RW compability was mainly for the DVD video playing function in PS2. I have no idea if these discs work for games.)
If you want to decide between DVD-R or DVD+R, I'd suggest DVD-R as you'd probably need more than one DVD for custom games anyway, unless you just intend to add songs and that's it. The compability is also more guaranteed.
But still, since the technology was went very far, the proper modifications you are going to need to play a custom disc usually include DVD+R support anyway, so I don't see any harm in using a DVD+R if you insist. |

I just burned my first custom version on a DVD+R and it works just fine. I haven't played all the songs on it yet but of the 5 or so I've tried, no prob.
And, to top it off, its cheap media too. Nexxtech I had laying around. In the media guide its rated basically as coaster material. 8-) |
