Having you very reputable ScoreHero members speak well of this game has changed my mind about it. I was completely sold on only getting Rock Band and never looking back on GHIII, but now I'm definitely getting both.

Hey, just saying what I heard - Can't remember the exact source but I've seen it cited a number of places. Some interview they did with a rock magazine, I think? Reportedly it was final tier, or no dice.

I know everyone else is probably shuddering / vomiting at the thought of having to beat TTFAF to beat the game, but it wouldn't be SO bad - as the final song, it's not like being unable to pass it would prevent you from unlocking any further content (other than what normally comes with beating / 5*ing the main setlist).

I just...

The thought of beating whatever I play last out of the four normal final-tier songs, encore coming up, hitting yes to play and seeing

Yeah, uh, Dragonforce in the Career Mode? No way that happens. I'm all for pushing for new challenges, but that'd be GH suicide if you ask me. Nobody would ever beat the game.
