I've noticed that the tempo for songs being converted from Freetar has always been 100 for the whole song. Make sure that the tempo in your GH version of the song is the same as the tempo in the midi that the .sng to .mid converter gave you.

I have a problem. I did the whole convertion thing and all that stuff, but when the song starts in GH2, ends immediately.

Can anyone help?

Chances are your End event isn't set up properly. In the Events view, the event that looks like this [End] needs to have a time set to it that matches up with the end of your song.

hey guys... i'm having trouble with this conversion. i convert the .sng to midi easily but then in anvil there are only 2 titles in the drop down box; track 1 and none. i then dont know what to do to finalise the midi so its like the other guitar hero files. do i have to add the event list? what are the next steps. i'm soooo new at this. thanks!

Just copy all of the notes from Track 1, then open up a GH/GH2 midi and replace the notes for the given difficulty that you want with your notes.

Yes. Same process, slightly different track names.

Can someone give me a helping hand please? I tried to convert the .sng files mergind the songs with my wayward son and replacing the PART GUITAR, in Guitar Hero Explorer they all wordked out fine, but they crash the game as son as they start. I thought about the end thing, but it was right (aka: [end]) but maybe not in the right time. Wonder if someone could make a step by step idiot proof guide to this cause it is really giving me worlds of pain. Thanks to all.

I'd also like some help. I have taken a .sng and used the nukular tool to convert it to .mid. Then I took the .mid, opened it in anvil, chose FILE, MERGE SONG and then I chose to merge it with Cheat on the Church (which I already made to work in GH2), like Sargoth said he does on the first page of this forum... As soon as I do this my track duration changes to 18:42:02 I assume this shouldn't happen?? I move on anyway... I delete the PART GUITAR track, and rename the new track as PART GUITAR. When I go VIEW, EVENT LIST, and choose EVENTS, my end time is also 18:42:02. I read that the end time needs to match the end of the song, but I have no idea how to change this. And by end, does that mean the time when the last note ends in the chart or when the actual end of the songs is? (i.e. my track is 5m04s, but the last note in the songs chart is around 4m29s and the rest of the track is just garbled feedback with no guitar... SOOOO, do I want to end my .mid file at the 4:29 mark or at the end of the actual song(5:04)?

Sorry this is so long, if anyone wants to just spare 5 minutes and MSN me, you can add tonysafag@hotmail.com and I will think you're awesome.

Thanks for making the guide. You SH people are amazing.

everything works with this FAQ and thank you for it, but the main problem i seem to be having is the tempo?..atfirst it was just using the temp from the song i merged the note chart with, i read the post above and changed the tempo to 100bpm but it was still all over the place....is there a way of seeing what the tempo settings are in the sng or is there anyway of transfering this information accross aswell.....
