the yellow and red has weird textures on it from the chemical reaction of paint mixing....otherwise it came out pretty good IMO |

Nice original idea. I have never seen a controller painted like this, and it came out looking nice. Good job! |

Oh wow, that looks awesome, dude. What gave you the idea to do gears? |

This steampunk guitar was the original inspiration. I wanted something that represented the steadfastness of the clocks, so the idea of gears were naturally born. Then for simplicity's sake and to preserve that "toyness" of the guitar controller, I opted for simple gear shapes, fat gear teeth, and primary colors. I settled on blue, yellow, and red because they are bright and colorful, like what you would see on a fisher price toy. For matching purposes, blue and yellow as complementary color was easy, black and red are seen a lot as matching colors for "metal, goth, hardcore", but there were no way to work in green and orange to match the buttons; i also would like the focus to be on the red gear, and that's why it has a heart-shaped hole in the middle, not only to make the guitar seem more "human" but the red gear is also the only gear that is not cut off somewhere. Another significance of the red gear is that: being opposites, blue gears and yellow gears are connected to their respective colors only, yet they would have to spin together from the inclusion of the red gear, the "heart of the guitar", which in a metaphorical sense, brings people of difference together through music. (a bit cheesy, i know. lol)
oh, and btw, that red heart is supposed to be an exact copy of the one on the companion cube =] |
