My .mid for Dream Theater's Another Day is almost done, I just need to make one last synching adjustment. If I do 70 tempo, the song is a little too fast for it at the end; 71 and the song is a little too slow. Is it possible to set something like 70.5? Or am I limited to whole numbers? If I can get the tempo right, then I'll add star power and be done. But if I can fix it, I either need someone to do the change for me, or a program that can for me.

As far as the midi spec is concerned, it actually deals with microseconds per beat, rather than beats per minute, internally, so there is certainly capability to do extremely fine grained adjustments. If you haven't already, I would certainly try just saying 70.5 if your software will allow you to enter a decimal number. When it converts it to midi's internal representation, it should do the right thing.

Riz.

See, that's where the problem lies -- Anvil doesn't accept decimal values. So if someone could load up my .mid in their program (Sonar?) and change it, then I could be done.

As far as I know (mainly from having worked with the MIDIs in GH1 a considerable amount), all tempo changes (defined by microseconds per beat) end up corresponding to multiples of 0.5 beats per minute. So while it's possible to define precise tempos in the MIDI, I'm not sure if the the GH/GH2 game engines actually process tempo at a higher precision than 0.5 BPM, this would be a difficult thing to test. But either way, you should at least be safe sticking to multiples of 0.5 beats per minute (assuming your editing software allows it, which is another issue).

If someone wants to help me out, here's the file: http://savefile.com/projects/1071057

It would be even better if you had the song. You could check to see if it synchs well at 70.5. The offset should be about 3000ms.
