You could use the overall ranking as an alternative scorecard on the forums (and it could be smaller, too). |

I think the underlying issue here is that, as of right now, if you are highly ranked on expert, you are seen as one of the best players on the website. If an overall ranking category were added, whoever was in first in that category would then be looked upon as the "best player". I think that alot of the higher ranked guys on expert and hard would rather not play the slow and somewhat boring easy and medium - and that's their choice. I'm pretty sure that the top players on expert will still be seen as such - top players. But I think that there will end up being a ton more people who play the lower levels who would like to see an overall ranking in place. In the end, it's another thing for people to keep an eye on and to continue to try and improve along with their rankings for easy, medium, hard, and expert. _________________

Well this all relates to how do you measure the best player? I mean, we could make a ranking for highest note streak (combined from all your songs). That would eliminate star power usage as a factor and just focus on accuracy and skill. |

But are accuracy and skill what make the best player? Guitar player - yes. But this is a video game, and video games are judged by highest scores. So star power usage has to factor into that. All I meant was that people are still going to know that someone who is highly ranked on expert is still going to be seen as one hell of a player. Also, this kind of game could provide a statistical nightmare with all the ways you could rank things. But overall ranking just seems like something that people would like to see. _________________

what about taking your highest individual career score and pitting that against other players' career scores.
That way you don't have to play all ov the difficulties but if you want more points you can move up to the next difficulty. _________________

even though I don't play easy/medium..and only piddle around in expert...I am all for more overall stats in general. Combined score chart...sure. Chart that shows highest note streak? ....sounds great.
You got this great database full of real life data....lets put it to use and show some interesting statistics from it! _________________

Well I can easily go nuts with statistics and show all types of rankings, but it's a matter of keeping the interfaces simple and meaningful. It's nice now to have a single ranking for every song so someone can say "I'm in 8th place on ___".
If I were to add rankings for note streaks and other things then it's more difficult to refer to your ranking on the song (i.e. I'm in 8th place for score, but 27th place for note streak, etc..). _________________

Could you just make the headings of each column click-to-sort? I would still sort by score as the secondary criteria in every case. _________________

Would the overall actually be overall though?
Adding all yours scores from all your difficutlties seems like it would be overall but the fact of the matter is that Expert gives more than double that of optimal Easy scores.
What I am asking is would each difficulty be worth 25% out of 100% so each is equally divided or is this about your combine points total in which case there wouldn't be all that much reason to try to scrap up a few 500 points off easy when you could be scraping up thousands in Expert?
I vote for the 25% per difficulty so each difficulty is treated equally. _________________

So what if I'm jealous? I don't really want to RUIN your rankings...I'd just like to be a part of it.
To some extent.
Maybe. _________________

Go for it. I know I wouldn't use it simply because I don't have enough time to play all the easy and medium songs. _________________
