custom song track names

is there any particular (verified) reason why we wouldn't be able to change the song names in the menus? i mean.. surely they are simple string tables, perhaps with associated values such as name length or otherwise that could also be overwritten/changed?

i mean, if they're part of the game's main binary(ies), altering them might change certain checksums, etc... but surely those could be recalculated / have the checks changed to expect new values?

although i guess doing so would probably end up violating some kind of reverse engineering laws... i don't know, anyone have any solid evidence about any of this?

as far as most currently know, all of that data is still encrypted and hasn't been decrypted yet. Regardless of if they are just in simple string tables or not, we still can't even get to those.

I really should add this question to the FAQ...

All song names and information are in encrypted files, and not in the executable.
