A lot of people do the all black explorer, but I've got to say, this might be the best one I've seen. Is that an expanded custom pickguard? Very nice job on the fretboard. Painting frets and fret markers is A LOT harder than it looks (hence my naked Kramer fretboard). The buttons look hella good too. All around professional job dude! A+ |

Thanks!
Yes, I ditched the default pickguard, filled in the cavity with Bondo, and covered it with the one shown in the photo which was cut from a blank sheet of acoustic pickguard material.
I'm happy with the look of the buttons, but I must say, they are entirely cosmetic at this point. I can't play this guitar worth a damn now because the buttons are too grippy on top. They push in and out just fine, but the tops are covered with a dull lacquer that doesn't allow you to slide your fingers along the tops of the buttons as I'm used to doing. Going to have to re-do the tops with a gloss lacquer, I think.

It looks very nice, smooth and clean. Like the original. I'm not sure if the pictures do it justice, but it looks like you did a great job on the brown neck and frets.
About the only thing I can think of that could make it just a bit nicer would be to blacken the silver whammy bar as well. _________________

The HOPOs will be so easy that you can bash the frets left and right with your penis and end up hitting the entire solo. |

Awesome job on the guitar, dude. What did you use to extend the pickguard? |

This is downright fantastic! Great job on the paint job! Simple at heart, but at the same time, it is very high quality. Your hard work paid off. |

I'm trying to think of something... What are those metal things in the shape of the tuners? You see em at hardware stores or whatever. I'm having a massive brainfart right now, but if you know what I'm talking about, you should get six small ones of those and put em on the guitar just to make it look more realistic. _________________

That's nicely well done. The only thing that i can think of that would make it even more authentic would be to put in the little skull thing from the original onto your fretboard. _________________
