As an avid GH fan since the original, I've purchased every GH game, except On Tour (no DS and don't care) and GH:A as a result of many complaints. I bought GH:80s last year the day it came out and honestly, it seemed like a quick cash in for the developers, but I found myself playing 80s a lot, even though I only played a handful of difficult songs. I do like Aerosmith to some extent...I don't know ALL of their songs or anything, but honestly, is this game more spiced up than 80s? I will purchase this game if it can satisfy me as much as GH:80s did. So, back to the original question. Which do you find more; appealing, cost worthy, challenging, and simply more fun to play? Thanks for the input. _________________

I find Aerosmith to be mostly better than '80s. Its solos are not as hard, but its riffs are varied and fun and imho the solos are more fun than those in '80s. I found that in '80s the last couple of tiers were quite fun while the rest had only a few good songs in them, but with only a few exception I find all the songs in Aerosmith fun to play.
That said, I would just watch some notechart videos on YouTube to decide whether you would find it fun to play or not. Don't just watch Train Kept A Rollin or Joe Perry Guitar Battle though, most of the notecharts are much better than those two. _________________

It feels less like a cash-in, and more like a real game; what with new characters, styles, guitars, venues and menus. I think a more fair representation would be GH80s=GH:A, GH80s having better(IMO) songs, and GH:A being more polished, and different. Cost Worthy GH:A is more justifiable, but 80s is way harder(BiM, EE, PWM, R&R, BB). With GH:A you get TKAR and the battle, both of which have already been FC'ed. _________________

80's, hands down.
The music was a lot better, even tough some of the covers sounded really bad. Also because Seventeen and Play With Me are the two most fun songs to play in all of Guitar Hero.
I personaly didn't care very much when I saw how much GH80's looked like Guitar Hero 2. I was too busy having fun and being challenged. I'm not going to buy Aerosmith because it's just about the same as GH80's except there are different characters, more songs, a better engine, and some other bonus stuff. None of what just I mentioned mean anything because the 2 hardest songs in the game are hardly even a challenge after the 10th try. |

Hell, go one further and GH80s > GH3.
GH 80's was my favorite game because I loved 99% of the setlist. _________________

Also, because it had a tight, yet fun engine. The solos might not have been charted as precisely, but they're more fun to play. Not to mention, you can't go wrong with Twisted Sister, Dio, and Judas Priest. _________________

gh:a is way better ecause 80's had a lot of uneeded 3 chords and 80's songs generally sucked. |

Aerosmith, by a hair, but they both have great tracklists. I'm suprised I like this game as much as I do -- I didn't expect the Aerosmith songs to be nearly as good or have as much variety as they do.
If you take just the "other artists" from GH:A, I'd say they're, on average, better than the 80s setlist, although Rock Band repeat songs are disappointing. But then throw songs like Love in an Elevator, Nobody's Fault, Mercy, Kings and Queens, Back in the Saddle, and Beyond Beautiful in there, and you've got a game that covers a whole lot more territory than 80s did. |

yeah. honestly 80's was challenging to me. aka i didnt 5 star every song on sightread. aerosmith was way too easy also songs were better on 80's even if they were covers. aerosmith is ok but hearing them over and over and over again in one game gets old really fast. 80's is the game i started fcing stuff on and is the game i got good on. much love to 80's _________________

One may argue that GH:A felt more like a complete game, with new characters, etc. But for the most part, the only thing that is going to matter in the long run is the setlist. People don't care that GH80s was too similar to GH2. The setlist still kicks ass, so people are still playing it. I believe that the GH:A setlist, which has very little replay value, will get boring to almost everybody (besides the hardcore Aerosmith fans) within weeks.
To answer your question in short, the game that is more appealing, cost worthy, challenging yet fun wouldn't be the game with the better features, but the game with the better setlist.
80s > Aerosmith. |

Honestly I loved 80's. It had some challenging songs like BIM,PWM,BB and for some reason even songs I didn't like still had fun charts. GH:A I just got on sunday and it is good in a different way. GH:A has MUCH better animations and it's cool to see them play. But for songs there are a few fun ones but nothing really challenging for a good expert player. The solos are fun and there are 41 songs as opposed to 30, but really I only play about 30.
So
80's
Songs: 9/10 just because there wasn't enough
Appearance: 7/10 it just looked like GH2 got a make-over
Replay: 7/10 only 30 songs but they are fun
GH:A
Songs: 7/10 easy songs but some are really fun
Appearance: 9/10 it really looks like a new game with cool animations
Replay: 7/10 I won't play it as much as the numbered GH but still fun
so really they are both fun in their own way. But it also depends on your musical taste. Aerosmith fans will like GH:A more and fans of 80's music will like GH:Rt80's more, or your like me and like GH so you just like new songs. _________________

In my oppinion, they are equal. I didn't think 80's that hard either, outside of the Romantics song wich I hate with a passion and the last tier, I'm pretty sure I five stared the setlist within the first few runs. And that was 8 or 9 months ago. As far as the setlist is concerned, that is up to your own personal taste. I personaly love both of the games, and if I still had ps2 I'd gladly own both.
Off topic/ the solo in BiM got my skill up enough to pass Jordan, not every time, but I beat it. _________________
