Notes Hit?

Hey everybody, I have a question, when you hit more stats at the end of a song, it says

Notes Hit: xx/100 and that "xx" value is often close to the percent of notes hit, but not always the same. So basically, this "notes hit" thing indicates words hit, phrases, sections or what?

Have you noticed that # notes hit is always higher than %? If so, it could just be that notes hit is rounded up and % is rounded down...

I've been wondering about this too. I think it could be something to do with freeform sections.
