Alright so I 5*ed six bonus songs the other night on expert, including Cheat On The Church, a song I was having trouble with... Anyways, I then turned off my PS2 after thinking it saved (I have it on Autosave band so it should have saved after I was done with the song). I turn my ps2 back on later, scroll down to look at the songs I 5*ed, and they were 4*ed, somehow it didn't autosave my achievments. Has this happened to anyone else using autosave? If so, should I start going to Data Settings and manual saving my progress? I just hope autosave is reliable.. this has only happened on bonus songs too..

The game saves when you see the "saving" screen after you dismiss the newspaper score sheet.

Autosave saves only non-bonus songs if you get a higher star rating than your previous score (simply improving a score doesn't autosave, has to be a better star rating). Bonus songs don't get autosaved ever.

Autosave does save all previous changes to any song though. So if for example you got better scores on a bunch of bonus songs, then got a star higher on one non-bonus song afterwards, all progress would then be saved.

You can make sure all your scores are saved by manually going to the save game option before turning off your PS2.

I don't mean to insult you by asking this, but did you make sure you weren't playing in Quick Play when you got the 5* or something?

OK that helps me 100% thank you.
Shin, lol, I appreciate your trying to help, but I'm not a noob, I just never post on the score hero forums, only on the guitarherogame forums.. But yea, so manual save after 5*ing bonus songs, thank you. If i 5*ed a bonus song on expert, then got a higher rank on a hard difficulty non-bouns song, would it also save my expert bonus song progress?

Yes. If it says "saving", it saves everything.

Huh? That can't be right...only your initial score is autosaved in the bonus songs? I never noticed that. I am pretty sure I 5 starred some bonus songs I didn't the first time on medium, shut the system off and then went at CFH on medium.

Maybe I 5 starred the few remaining bonus songs and then CFH without shutting off? I don't remember that...

A quick way to save IMO is instead of going to main screen, when you complete a song and are done for that session, change your guitar and go back to resume career, It will show you the save screen and when its complete turn the ps2 off.

There are too many menus doing it the other way.

Thanks, I'll do that from now on, though I use the Grim Ripper so I can't change guitars but I'll change characters instead, and yea there are like 5 menus from the cong list back to the main menu...

i did that a couple times. it happens. now i make sure it's saved every single time. so if i don't see the saving screen, i change something, buy something, or do manual.

Yep it does autosave bonus songs after you play them the first time... but after that it doesn't. I always make it a point to go to options and do a manual save before I quit for the night if I know my scores have changed and I don't see the "autosave" message before I quit.

normal songs it autosaves everytime you get a higher star level, but if you improve a score (like you already had 5 stars and now you get a higher score) then it doesn't autosave it and you have to go to options and save it manually.
