Uhh...is this weird

hey guys came back to score hero from a while ago and i have improved quite a bit in GH

in fact just a day ago i FC'd CoP and got to thinking. i looked down at my arm while playing and i only use 2 fingers for fretting. like obviously i switch to 3 for sustains like that but other then that i always use 2 fingers even for solos such as CoP.

i was just wondering does anyone else do that or am i just weird lol

and will this stop me from getting really good for really fast solo fcs like dragonforce stuff due to me not use 3-4 fingers?

Lol, most people don't play with just 2, or 3 fingers.
But whatever works for you I guess, I prefer using all 4 of my fingers for the zigzags or swipes, whatever you call it, though.

well all of the ttfaf fcs, and all of the people that have -10 runs all use 4 fingers, but that may be because the majority of people use 4 fingers. its not necessary to use all four, but it has advantages over using two. especially because you can still use two fingers when it is easier, but when there is a section that is difficult to use two fingers on, you can use 3 or 4. it just gives you more options if you learn to use all four fingers. i use four, but two or three is not impossible.

I've never tried limiting myself to any less than 4 fingers. Basically, my hand is always in one of 2 hand positions, either GRYB or RYBO, the only exception being to hit GO, GYO and GBO chords (and GRO if they ever make a song that has it). Then again, I will never come close to FCing Cult of Personality, and maybe it might be easier to move your fingers really fast if you just use 2, since the ring and pinky fingers are the weakest.

I think i have normal fretting, but my strumming is wierd, i upstrum instead of downstrum like a bass player

Well my friend plays with 3, but he's starting more to use his pinky. I've never seen anything quite like using 2 fingers, I couldn't do it, but whatever works for you man.

Playing with 2 or 3 fingers has it's advantage.

For exemple, I have a lot of trouble with BO trills. I can't slide up there fast enough, and my pinky is waay too slow to do most of these. If you only play with 2 finger, those fingers must be fast as hell, and you practiced sliding so much that going to 4th position to hit a BO trill is a joke. You should learn to use your pinky and ring finger, but you shouldn't unlearn to use your two dominant fingers for harder stuff.
