according to play.com if you pre order the game for £149.99 on ps3/ps2/360/wii you get a wired(x360) or wireless(ps3/ps2/wii) 'bass' guitar countroller with it for free.

Edit: both sites also have a release date of 7/11/08 (11/7/08 for the North Americans reading) for the UK.

taking into account that rock band still isn't out on the ps2/ps3 or wii here i think that this game, for this price, is an incredible deal! Especially the wii/ps3/ps2 ones which come with another wireless guitar!

If the price is true, and this is cheaper than rock band, then GO NEVERSOFT! Free bass guitar is a way to attract customers, all full band bundles will come with 2 guitars (I think)

imo, the x-plorer is the best GH guitar. this is a decent offer, but i've got the RB drums and dont really want another set, even if it does turn out to be better

Im guessing wired will be the X-Plorer as its the only GH wired controller for 360.

A few facts for you:

1) Amazon are doing exactly the same thing, and I'm sure many other shops will.

2) The Wii and PS3 versions advertise a wireLESS guitar, don't know about PS2.

It's hardly cheap considering I got rock band and instruments for £130 at launch from play.com, and I dont exactly want another xplorer...

It's still expensive, and it's even more annoying when americans are getting it for about $170 which is the equivalent of around £85.

If that release date is true my respect for activision will increase massively.

The perk is kind of meh for me seen as my LP would make a fine 2nd guitar but w/e.
