Hey, I was wondering if anyone could recommend me any good Offline, RPGs for the PC (preferably without insane system requirements). Something like WoW, but offline so there aren't monthly fees and I won't have to change my firewall settings? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a perfect invitation to recommend Oblivion. Not sure on the insane spec requirements though, I've heard it can be a bit punishing on graphics cards.

I'd recommend Oblivion too.

But, if you're looking for offline RPG's, you really need a Playstation one, SNES, and GBA/DS.

That gets you your Final Fantasy's, Dragon Quest's, a good number of spin offs of those, and some other essential RPGs, like Chrono Trigger/Cross, Mario RPG, and Secret of Mana.

Oblivion is a must have, and I'd also recommend Fable: The Lost Chapters, which is quite fun.

Okay, thanks guys. I'm not actually allowed to play M games (though I'm sure I could if I wanted too) but I looked at the other games in the Elder Scrolls series, and Morrowind looks pretty good (and less system intensive). Does that sound like a good choice?

Yes Morrowind is an amazing game (plus it has tons of cheats and glitches for you to exploit ) The combat system for Oblivion is better though. Morrowind has so many things that you can do that it will take you weeks if not months too do, and then once you do that you can make another class and do it again.

get yourself an SNES emulator and play some of the best RPG's ever. all the FF games on SNES (except for mystic quest /puke) are for the most part equal in the amount of ass that they kick, and that amount is staggering. (ONLY, ofcourse, if you own the original cartridges. I would never suggest something illegal >_>)

I've never played Morrowind myself, but the fact that there's still a very active modding scene around it leads me to believe it's worth a go. I've been trying to find a copy but all the shops around here are about as much use as a third nostril.

Incidentally, the M rating for Oblivion is really misleading... it was only added because of a mod that makes the women appear topless. If you don't install the mod, there's not really any reason why it should be M-rated. See here, if it's any help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elder_Scrolls_Oblivion#Rating_change

i'd recommend fallout 2. It definitely has very low req's, its dirt cheap, and its one of my favorite games of all time.

Mmm, a bunch of JRPGs which all copy each other. To be honest, I used to love the JRPG style, but it's beginning to get repetitive to me.

Seriously, the idea that consoles have the best RPGs is flawed. My favorite RPGs have all been on the PC. In no particular order:

-Planescape: Torment
-Deus Ex (RPG/FPS)
-Baldur's Gate 1/2/expansions
-Fallout

Civ is RTS, not RPG.

I would also suggest Morrowind, which is an incredible game.

Just thought I'd add to this... I found a copy of Morrowind while I was out this morning. I'll probably spend the weekend playing the hell out of it so I'll add some kind of opinion later if it's of any interest?

EDIT: Probably won't get to play it much now, 'cos it wouldn't install on this (my parents') computer so I've had to put it on mine which isn't hooked up, meaning I won't get to play it much until I'm back at university.

Can't believe no-one's recommended this, the original Neverwinter Nights is a brilliant RPG. I highly recommend a purchase - plus it's quite cheap at the moment.
