List of Songs by Length in the Guitar Hero Series (GHM in!!)

Ok I know there is another list from a few months back but it needs some updating and I'm here to do it, also a decent amount of the times are incorrect by a lot and are the time of the actual song and not the version of the song in guitar hero.

I calculated these times by using videos of people playing the songs and timing simply by subtracting time on youtube. A song time starts when you hear that thump or guitar chord or whatever it is right before a song starts, and it ends with the "you rock" screen. For On Tour and OTD it's a lot easier as the game tells you the times (except IANYG) and I used those.

Impressive list! I know it takes a lot of effort to do that sort of thing. I have to ask, though: Why sort by length? Would be easier to see what songs were missing if you sorted them as they are in the game.

I always thought trogdor was the shortest i'd never heard of "graveyard shift" there was only one video of it on youtube and apparently you have to hack to get it anyway

I just put Death Magnetic into my CD Player and can give you the track lengths according to it. They may be slightly different in the game, but you can compare them as you will:

two suicide redemptions? the hell? and I youtubed them and they're almost identical songs. wtf??

I think any song that's a master track the time of the song is the same or off by like one second but there were some like The Breaking Wheel that were 2 minutes off, at least 20% have been significantly off.

and I just checked two metallicas and they were both right on so I'm just gonna keep all those times

The two S&Rs are indeed the same song. The difference is Hetfield's vs. Hammet's solos.

Interesting tidbits regarding this info:

The longest Dragonforce Song is Soldiers of the Wasteland at 9:45.

The shortest Dragonforce song, pre-UB, is Dawn Over a new World, at 5:12. With UB, the shortest is Strike of the Ninja, at 3:12(I put that there even though i dont have SotN)
The only two songs to have the same length are Cry of the Brave and Black Fire, at 5:46.
Valley of the Damned has two versions, one lasting till 6:55 and another with an extended outro lasting to 7:11.
Dawn Over a new World is the shortest of their power ballads, at 5:12. Where Dragons Rule is the longest power ballad, at 5:56.
Minus Strike of the Ninja, Storming the Burning Fields is their shortest non-ballad song at 5:19. THe longest is Soldiers of the Wasteland, at 9:45.

Maybe as customs, but they don't count. The only Dragonforce songs that count are TTFaF, Revolution Deathsquad, Operation Ground and Pound, and Heroes of Our Time.

I never realized that "Livin' on the Edge" was 6 minutes! And they must have done some serious surgery on "L'Via L'Viaquez" to get it that short. Album version of the song is over 12 minutes.
