What do you guys think Survival Mode is? I'm guessing you're just put in an area with few supplies and you just keep killing an endless horde of zombies until you eventually get overpowered and die. But that doesn't really sound too multiplayer oriented, so who knows.

Why not? That's Co-op if anything is. Considering how fun Horde mode is in GoW2, I'm excited if it's anything like that.

Wow, I had a dumb moment there. I was just assuming there'd be people going against the survivors along with the endless horde, which would be an even harder yet more boring Versus mode. I'm sick, so I can't think that clearly.

I doubt valve would just make survival mode a mode where all the survivors camp in the corner.

They'll pull out something from left field. Maybe like all 4 survivors are seperated at first and they have to try and communicate a regroupment place near the center of the map while hordes of zombies are hunting them down. Spec infected come in after 30 seconds so if you don't regroup quick expect swift death from a hunter or possibly a smoker.

Just a thought.

That would be amazing

I think that it will be going from one point to another, just like the campaigns and versus modes are, except there won't be any health packs (maybe pills, but not health packs), ammo locations, and possibly no upgraded weapons. If that is the case, I won't complain one bit. Sure, you can already do this if you ignore everything, but a game mode devoted to it would be pretty cool.

Wow, I was just playing with my friends on Blood Harvest level 1. This was the score:

1028 to 7.

They only got 7. It was pure dominance.

EDIT: Level 2 was 1269 to 23.

If you ever put the game in commentary mode, one of the game's designers (Gabe Newell, the head guy I believe) explains that that was the original concept for the game, but they ended up scrapping it because it took away from the team element and confused first-time players. For us established fans, though, it would be awesome

Also, Freebird's comment below got me thinking- what was the most dominant Versus campaign you guys have ever had? I want to say there was one No Mercy match where the final score was 6517-368 for me.

The highest score me & my friends have gotten was like 7982 or something, if someone would have paid attention and healed in the rescue vehicle then we would have broken 8000. The other team was at like 400.

Health kits and pain pills left in your inventory when you escape are counted into your health bonus.

In fact for optimal score you should make a point to not use your health packs; finishing with low health but a med kit in tow will net you more points than healing up in the safe room.

I'm fairly sure that the bonus is based on how much health you'd have after using your healing items, so it doesn't actually make a difference.

ok Survivor mode... WTF!

"Just got done watching GT's world exclusive about the new L4D content. It's pretty weak. Survival mode is basically just you being timed how long you can survive hordes over all the maps or something. It was only like a 20 second block of the show."

So basically you could camp in one corner and melee like crazy (just like most people do in NM4 while waiting for the elevator) except you could just do it for ever and ever as opposed to actually continuing on and completing the mission like most people would do.. and thus you'll get more points because you survived longer... Man I really hope there is more to this mode than that.

I was hoping for a no safe room, fight to the death option... where you'll basically have like 4 new maps which are pretty much just finale maps and the survivors see how long they can survive against hordes, the vs team, tanks, witches, etc. and then you'd flip sides and go at it again... whoever stays alive the longest amount of time wins. This way with creating new maps they could make sure there weren't any lame-o "Jesus Room" or under the stairs type places for people to glitch and hide.

Seriously? Wow... honestly, fighting hordes in a single spot is incredibly, incredibly easy for most experienced players, making the mode as you describe it just two steps shy of pointless. Now, if there was some kind of timer and you had to get from point A to point B while more zombies than normal attack from more places, that would be a different story.
