It's the other way around for me, I get really easily impressed when other people can play on expert......

But when I five star ttfaf on while completely smashed out of my face, I feel awkward about it, I was playing with some girl the other night and I got laid....... EVEN after playing like a god at that game, I was like "yeah, real guitar helps when it comes to this game" when it's not true, lol... I was just looking for excuses to redeem myself. and she was pretty good lookin too.

I rushed that post sorry. i need a shit

I'll happily admit i've spent far too much time on video games, probably more than doing anything worthwhile or constructive. But i play them a lot with friends, so it doesn't really make me a "no-lifer"

I find them an opening into a place where i don't have responsibility's, burdens, pressure, stress (well, nowhere near as much anyway) where i can relax and be somebody else.

Then after I finish playing GTA, i feel the need to murder a few prostitutes in a truck and gun down some pigs ofc.

EDIT:

My friends know I don't play Guitar Hero a lot. They always say I've improved or "I'm TOO good at this game", but no one's ever spun it negatively.

Then I tell them that the amount you play a game has little to do with how good you are at it. Most of us on Scorehero are in the 99.9th percentile of the world at the game. I play Halo way more than GH but I'm not even close to that good on that scale.

Personally I think Guitar Hero is really easy and I don't think highly of the typical Hard/easy Expert player (all my friends and relatives). All it takes is one progression through Career Mode to become good at the game but few put in the effort.

In my experience its usually because they are scared of failing a song....for some reason. Maybe they feel intimidated...
Once or twice before somebodies asked me some tips on how to get better, and i say "play above your skill level"

don't keep playing livin' on a fucking prayer, because you'll never get better.
Play Six, play raining blood, cliffs of dover etc..

People are afraid of failing because they're afraid of being inferior to their neighbor. Since they can't keep up with the "superior" (for lack of a better word) person, they proceed to ridicule in hopes that they'll bring themselves down.

Happens all the time with us smart folk

I have never had anyone tell me I have no life regardless if they were friends or total strangers. If you are getting these comments you probably give off an aura of being asocial.

That being said, people generally shit a brick when I play.

oh definitely...like this one time earlier this year, the church was having this video game arcade type thing and they called me special just to bring Rock Band. I played drums and everybody flipped out. Although I usually can't play as well with people around, they still can't believe I can play it on expert. Same goes with Guitar Hero.

Same here =(

The reason it annoys me is not because I care if anybody's impressed with my skills, it's because I just want somebody else to play with.

Ditto. None of my friends have ever even seen me play on expert. One time it was the other way around, back when I played on medium or something and didn't care as much about GH. One of my friends played TTFAF (I can't even remember if it was hard or expert) and passed it. All my friends and I were impressed.

There was actually one time where I was talking with 2 of my friends about GH (this was last year, when I actually did play on Expert). I think one of them said they were having trouble with Stricken and I said it wasn't too hard. They were like, "Do you know what song we're talking about?" or something like that cause they thought I was crazy. The only hard part is the solo really.

But yeah now that I'm in high school, no one's really talked about GH at all. My gf knows I play it a lot, but not that I'm good at it.

even though i personally have never been told I have no life, i find it quite funny to hear that people still say that. think about it. here i am hanging out with YOU, and you're saying I have no life..what does that say about your own life, then? as if hanging out with someone you consider a no-lifer is any better than being a "no-lifer" anyway. kinda pisses me off, haha.

Ha - oh, if only. Hey, if that's all it took for you, that's awesome... but man, count your blessings. For rather a lot of people, even if they're motivated and want to get through all the careers, it's a long, slooooow grind towards competence. I know it was for me. (I cannot even begin to guess how many times I needed to play You've Got Another Thing Coming in GH1 to five-star it on Expert. Stupid unhittable-at-the-time chord changes.) Me, I'm happy enough just to see friends and acquaintances who have decided to venture past the safe waters of Medium....

Anyway: as has been said before, on ScoreHero, we're all "that guy". I'm no exception; I know that I'm far-and-away the best fake-guitarist of all my non-SH friends. (And the best "singer", albeit by a narrower margin.) At least friends have come to know and expect as much; it's always much more hilarious seeing how randoms in the field react at even the tamest of "challenging" exhibitions. I think my favorite was at a GH2 demo in Best Buy, where my wife was playing Cherry Pie on Hard and the passing kids all went into bezerker JESUS CHRIST IT'S AN ORANGE NOTE GET IN THE CAR mode. Good times.

Yeah, twas' awesome.
Big party at my friend's awesome house, HUGE TV, we put in GH3 and people played some songs, then with like everyone watching I 4*'d TTFAF.
Standing up and tapping the intro when everyones like shouting "YEA AWESOME" is just fucking epic.

I'm now known as the best guitarist, plastarist, plasdrummer and drummer in my (extended) group of friends. (I don't even have a drumset. RB is fine education in that sense, and it turns out I schooled this dude my friends all thought was really good on drums so now I'm getting drummer love as well)

yeah it's fucking ugly
there's no one to play with, and when my friends see me they are not at all impressed for some reason :/
I 5* TTFAF in front of them and they just don't care, they think it's easy :S
let alone no one plays here.
