Roethlisberger is in the prime of his career, and has already won TWO superbowl championships. He's already a hall of fame quarterback. I wouldn't say Big Ben is better than Brady or Manning, but he's still the class of the league. |

Roethlisberger's teams were built around defense. His teams have been successful, but that doesn't make him an automatic HoF QB. _________________

Good point, fUNC... Roethlisberger did inherit a very good football club. But I still think Roethlisberger is better than Romo and Rivers. |

Right now I'd rather have Brady and Manning over Roethlisberger. They are all clutch and Brady and Manning are just better all around. I wouldn't want Brees or Rivers and sure as hell not Romo. Big Ben is my third best QB in the league. Watching him ALWAYS come through in the clutch last year makes him better than all the others for me.
And if Ben keeps it up he'll make the Hall of Fame, no doubt about it. He's only 27 years old. He's got some years ahead of him. _________________

I'm hoping the Rams win some more games this year, but honestly I don't see that happening. Bulger has gotten worse over the years and he's now hurt, I don't really know anything about Kyle Boller, Steven Jackson isn't really as good as everyone thinks, our defensive backs are all not that great, Chris Long was ok, but he didn't really do to much, we lost Issac Bruce and Torry Holt, who have been amazing receivers despite the fact that they're getting old, Hopefully Spagnoulo can get these St. Louis Rams winning because these last few years have been really sad and lousy for the Rams. It's really hard watching your Team lose every game. But, we did beat the Jets in the pre-season opener so I'm pretty happy about that. |

RAGE
Fuck you, Favre. Minnesota will go 6-10. Favre will be run out of town. Childress will be burned at the stake. The Metrodome will be firebombed.
And then the Vikings will win the Super Bowl in the 2010 season after reversing all that bad karma. _________________

Yeah because Brady and Manning didn't have anyone good on their team at all. The fact is Rothlisberger may not be as pretty as Brady or Manning when playing the game, but he does what he needs to do every single week and his team wins because of it. Is that not what the best QB should be defined as?
The fact is to have won 2 superbowls and have his winning pct at this early in the game, he has to be headed in that direction no matter what his defense looks like. Not to mention his offensive weapons change every season and he adapts quickly.
No he's not currently a first ballot hall of famer, but he's so young that talk is wayyy beyond now. _________________

I never said that he wasn't. The post was a response to somebody asserting that Roethlisberger was a better QB than somebody like Rivers or Brees just for having won, and I was saying that that was far from the case. Same with nearly any other position you can come up with- LT, for instance, has never played in a SB, but if his career ends tomorrow there's zero doubt that he'll be first-ballot Hall of Fame. While Roethlisberger's performance from last year was incredibly impressive considering the the O-line the team had (he was sacked once every 9.7 pass attempts last season- 26th in the league), the Steelers also won his first Super Bowl in spite of the guy (9/21, 123 yards, 2 INTs). Simply put, QB is the most important position on the field, but it's still a team game. It's possible (though hard) to win consistently without a quality QB. Leadership isn't something you can put into a nice and tidy statistic like nearly everything else in the game, but it's far from an absolute. _________________

Well, I guess it could happen.

I wouldn't mind that.

I wouldn't mind that either.

Hey! I'll take that!
What can I say that hasn't already been said? I was very surprised and initially very excited when I heard the news. I started fantasizing about Favre throwing to all of the Vikings wide receivers and wondering if he can take us to the promised land. Now that I've let the whole thing sink in, I've become a bit nervous about all the risks involved. If the Favre experiment fails, things could get ugly as Kris, um, mentioned in his post. I sure hope this actually works, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.
Does this move make the Vikings Superbowl contenders? I'm not gonna go there. I don't consider myself superstitious, but I'm still not taking any chances. |

As far as I'm concerned, the Vikings are in the same exact spot they were in before they signed Farve. He just needs to quit, he's got nothing left in him. _________________
