Any fans?

I only started watching the show about 2 months ago (not really known/available in America), and have decided it is quite possibly my favorite comedy ever (OK, along with Arrested Development, South Park and Seinfeld).

I would have to go with Super Hans as my favorite character, but all of the cast is just so great (and in many ways, I can strongly identify with Mark and his cautious, buttoned down existence).

Season 6 has just recently started airing in the UK, and so far the quality is just as good as all the other seasons.

My favorite episode so far was probably the one where they go and meet Sophies parents, although the "dog" episode was also great, as was the "Christian Rock Festival" show.

"I AM James Bond"

I could probably fill the rest of the page with quotes, but that instantly sprang to mind when you mentioned the meet the parents episode.

Yeah, basically i love it. The writing is just in a league of it's own. Like you say Mark's character in particular has so many layers. Some of his inner monologue lines are just fantastic in that within the course of a few seconds they can take you from laughter (initial reaction) to pity (after realising how pathetic it was) to i guess...fear (after reasoning that actually, maybe that's no so pathetic, it kinda makes sense actually....OH FUCK I'M MARK!)

Super Hans is probably my favourite character as well, barely. I think they use him well, he's not fleshed enough to carry one of the housemate roles but his cameos are pretty much always the highlights of the episode. He lives about 15 miles from me, so i bump into him around Brighton every now and again, first time i met him he got so fucking tired of me quoting lines at him, as i was doing it i knew how much of a tool it made me look but i just didn't care.

And on that note, i leave you with...

"They're all a bunch of marks 'int they? Sitting behind their big marble desks ties done up to 11, clicking their fingers to the fucking Lighthouse Family...and getting their dick sucked by a big Alsatian dog."

You watch any Star Stories or Mitchell and Webb look? Star Stories is basically a mockumentry series by the same production team with a lot of actors from minor to mid size roles in Peep Show (Super Hans, Mark's racist office buddy, Sophie's friends that Mark drops E with etc) and That Mitchell and Webb Look is their self penned sketch show, not as good as Star Stories or Peep Show, but i'm not a big fan of sketch shows in general.

I've never really been a fan of The Peep show, although the episodes I have watched I have enjoyed. I don't like it nearly as much as "That Mitchell and Webb Look" though (by the same 2 guys).

I haven't seen the last few series, but I remember the remote control device thing, that made me lol whenever it was bought up.

I've always wanted to download some of the better UK comedies but after trying to watch the office I ran into a major setback: I can't understand what the hell they're saying. I'm probably going to buy the office (UK) DVD sets eventually, assuming they include subtitles. I've heard so many good things about the show but I can't enjoy it when I'm constantly trying to figure out what they're saying. My girlfriend has the same problem. I guess it's the accents.

Peep Show will be way easier, because the two main characters are both from fairly "affluent" backgrounds, which means that they speak a much more "understandable" form of English than some of the more cockney shows.

Being from South Africa, I have more of an ear for English accents than the majority of Americans do, but there are some shows that even I struggle with (most notably a show called "The Royle Family", which I understand maybe 50% of what's been said).

You can actually check out Peep Show on youtube - I believe that all the episodes are there in their entirety, so give them a look, and see if you can follow it. Also, you need to persist with the show for a while before its brilliance hits - at first it's very unusual, but it takes some getting to know the characters before you're hooked.

Also, I need to check out Star Stories - haven't seen that at all.

I quite like "That Mitchell and Webb Look", but I don't think it's in the same league as "Peep Show"

Half of the UK (that is, the southern half) doesn't understand what they're saying either, bloody northerners.

(insert "bloody southern softies" comment from one of our northern brethren)

Peep Show is something I've not really followed much - watched a couple of episodes and enjoyed them, but David Mitchell's nasal voice started to grate after a while. Still, I can usually get past that. It's pretty much filed under 'something I need to watch more'. It's probably all up on 4OD so I have no real excuse.

bloody southern softies

Never really gotten into Peep Show, never found it as funny as other people seemed to. Mitchell and Webb is hilarious though.

Also, The Royle Family is ace.

I don't believe I've ever laughed so hard at anything as I laughed at "tell you what, that crack is really moreish".

Serious advice now: No-one likes indecision in their work, so find what you like that you're even remotely good at, and stick with it. Don't flit from one thing to another, because that just smacks of a large lack of determination and drive. And people don't like you for that, and won't remember you for it. I mean, I get that you have a plucky spirit and a willingness to try new things, but there's a limit, man.
I might knock it down to just Thursday and Friday.

Peep Show is definitely one of my favourite TV shows of all time, and I don't know why it is. I think its just the fact that it is so simple and realistic. It makes Mitchell and Webb look like geniuses for making such diverse and interesting characters aswell as some of the brilliant conversations they have with each other.
