The Line6 looks like a nice series. I might go with them once I go to guitar center.
How do the Line6 Spider 3 and 4 series differ? _________________

I'm having some trouble learning a certain guitar part. I'm trying to learn all of Panic Attack (except the solo ).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7b_DaILYiQ
At 4:46 is where I can't play anymore. Any tips for how I can do that part?
Also, at Desertman, I play a Spider III, and I think it's the best amp I've ever played on. I've never played a Spider IV, but the III is great. _________________

You're probably better off asking the fellows at Guitar Center. But I think the IV is more advanced and has more settings. _________________

I have a 75 watt Spider III and I actually like it better than the Spider IV. I played one at guitar center and imo you can't get as good of tone out of it, I messed with it for over an hour and only found one that I sort of liked, it does have more effects, but like the other effects of previous models they are very limited and are more of a gimmick than anything. I kind of regret buying my spider in the first place when I think about it, they are good at low volumes, but anything higher than 1/3 of the way up just sounds horrible. After a while you also start to realize how generic the tones are, they aren't bad but you can do so much better just by using a few stomp boxes and a tube amp. My advice is to just save up and look into a nice tube amp, thats what I should have done in the first place. _________________

Man, you guys ask a lot of questions about amps. Okay, first off, Spiders blow. Really. Second, before you decide you want a new amp, I urge you to mess with the EQ settings on the amp and the tone settings on your guitar before hand. A lot of people want to get a new amp so they can have a certain tone but they don't realize that a lot rests in the EQ. Third, TRY AMPS AT THE STORE. _________________

Honestly, as a person who was about to buy a 120 Spider III, I haven't regretted for a second picking up a 75 Spider IV. It's incredibly better. It has more settings, it has more stuff, and most importantly, IT HAS A WAY BETTER TONE! Get a IV before a III at all costs. _________________

Really? I played it and hated it, yet again the Sam Ash by me has shit guitars, almost all of them have problems with their input jacks.
I would still say get a tube amp though. _________________

In August I got a Peavey Valveking 112.
Earlier today it just stopped turning on. this was because of a blown fuse.
We replaced the fuse and when we turned it on we got a really loud hissing sound and one of the power tubes was flashing mad colors (fireworks display as Dad put it).
The power tubes in the amp are 6L6GC's - what valves should i get to replace them?
the blown valve was a Ruby, i also found these: http://tinyurl.com/yd2qjfx
can anyone guide me on what valves are good as replacements and wether those are any good.
Thanks in advance! |

I figured I'd update you guys about what I've been doing since my last post.
Got a little better at sweeping, still can't do Painkiller's sweep accurately, but its somewhat audible. Also learned the following songs:
Tornado of Souls
Five Magics (To the verse, then it just goes insane, so insane to the point where Dave Mustaine doesn't know how he did it and hasn't played it live.)
A Tout Le Monde
Sleepwalker
Gears of War
Lucretia
Mechanix
The Scorpian
Die Dead Enough
Oh, and I have my VMNT now, so that makes things easier for me _________________

I've been playing for about 5 years now, 4 years completely self-taught. I'm able to play nearly every Metallica song, my most recent accomplishment being Jump In The Fire.
Although solos really aren't my strong point. _________________

So dudes, i've got my Peavey Valveking and my Squier Stratocaster. how difficult and would it be worth replacing the pickups in it rather than buying an entirely new guitar. I'm basically just looking to upgrade it was much as i can.
can you also advise me on whether there are any fast bolt-on necks out there that i could replace the standard one with. also if i replaced the neck would it be a lot of trouble re-setting the guitar up.
would it also be an easy job to replace the tremolo with a floyd rose?
Thanks in advance |

it wouldn't be worth doing anything with a squier, save up money, sell the squier for more money and get a new guitar. _________________
