Who are ABBA, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, and The Hollies? XD I know some music outside what I listen to, but nothing from any of these guys...Abba actually sounds familiar, but I can't honestly think of one song. I know The Stooges alittle bit, especially Iggy Pop, but are those bands really that great to be inducted in? |

Abba actually had quite a few hits. If you've ever heard of the movie/musical Mamma Mia!, all the songs are written by Abba. They were also one of the first bands to make all the parts for a song, mix it together and then practice it afterward.
Genesis was the crappy band with Phil Collins in it. Meh. _________________

Oh no you di-in't.
I'm hoping for a Hall of Fame 2010 Pack now in GH/RB with some Genesis in it, I'd buy the songs in a heartbeat. _________________

The rock and roll hall of fame is honestly the most arbitrary list on the fucking planet. It means absolutely nothing in the end. |

I'm impressed and surprised that you don't know.
ABBA totally deserves it, so long as they qualify for "rock and roll", which they define loosely and I'd say sure, why not.
Genesis is ok. I like them. At least some songs.
Anyway those two and the stooges i suppose i approve of, though the stooges aren't necessarily what I would call a fantastic "hall of fame-worthy" band though. I also have heard nothing by Jimmy Cliff or The Hollies, though I have heard of both of them.
Rush became eligible at least 10 years ago right? That they aren't in there still baffles me. Is there some technicality that is holding them out? _________________

EDIT: Apparently, the guys over at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thinks that progressive rock does not belong there. Therefore Rush can't be inducted. There are petitions online to get them to change their minds about this and give progressive rock bands a chance to get inductes as well. _________________

Also, The Stooges are notable for their influence and innovation, ranging from being innovators in a gamut of rock genres such as punk (especially), hard rock, metal, and in a way being the root of all post-Nirvana mainstream rock. In addition to that Iggy Pop was one of the most influential (if not the most influential) rock persona (i.e he is credited with inventing or (more likely) popularizing stage diving) _________________

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a fucking joke, the only one of those artists that even slightly deserves to be in the hall of fame is Genesis. And as others have said, no Rush is unexcusable, among other things. _________________
