Critiques and comments would be VERY appreciated!

First of all, you need some more/better quality mics for the drums. You can barely hear the snare, and the cymbals are kinda overpowering. The guitar's tone is pretty weak as well. I don't think screaming really fits in with the song. That solo was pretty damn good, your guitarist is very talented and the vocals are pretty great too. I cant really hear the bass though, and the overall volume is pretty low, had to crank my speakers to hear it at a decent volume. In the end, all you really need is better equipment. Talented band, just need some work on getting better recordings

i have VERY VERY VERY rough demos i just recorded in ~10 min, only guitar, WAV files. Recorded with an external camera on top of my amp.
NOTE!: These are in no way the final versions. The final demos will be a little diifferent than these.

Brace Yourself (The Underground)

I think I made Brace Yourself a little too long. it's only supposed to be 4-5 min. This one is 6 min.

After seeing Eastwinn's post of his songs on the UG forums I realized you could actually upload guitar pro files and attach them to your posts there, which of course prompted me to register with that site. I'm trying to update my guitar pro software so that I can view other's files though, I'm am extremely curious to see what kind of stuff Eastwinn is creating. Just from reading his (or her) posts I can tell (s)he knows a lot about music theory, which I know next to nothing about... I just keep trying new things with my music and throw out anything that doesn't sound good, and eventually I started seeing patterns and developing my own style.

In any case, here's the link to the thread where I posted my newest song... the aforementioned "Christmas'y song." I could finish it up and post it on youtube, but I lose a good bit of sound quality by converting it to an .mp3, and also I would love for people to see the different things that go into creating these kinds of songs (Because I am a huge advocate of multitracking.) Overall, I am very pleased with how this song came out, especially the second half of it.

EDIT: Sorry.

Took a while but I got it set up for ya. The MP3 file sounded really good but youtube really messed up the sound quality a lot... but then again it said the video was still being processed and quality may improve once that is finished, so here's hoping.

EDIT: The sound quality did get much better, thankfully. I'm pretty bored now with the first half of this song but I still think the second half (1:20 and after) is really good.

Great tom work on the drums. Pretty generic guitar stuff. I'm diggin' the vocals too. With a proper recording, this would be a fantastic sounding song!

@WVUMountaineers: I agree with the above poster, but I see lots of room for potential here guys. I enjoyed the song and hope to see more soon...

Okay so guys here's the deal, as you may or may not be aware I am currently putting together a new album, which development is over half done already. Myspace says that if I can exceed 200 friends I can have access to FanSync, a product that allows you to import your address book and invite up to 25,000 fans in one click! So please offer your support and thanks...(link is in sig)

And to hear quick previews of the first 5 tracks here is an album sampler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdT67gG0zv4

All comments are welcome!

vid is 5 sections...

section 1: I like the guitar solo bit the clip starts with, I thought that was the best part of that one.

section 2: Sounds just like alice in chains

section 3: With a bit of vocal work this could be your "radio single" unfortunately the clip cuts out just as an epic guitar riff starts.

section 4: I like that it is the only one of these to have the harsh vocals, because it shows that you can put them in songs whenever you want, but you like to choose which songs they would be better suited for, rather than always using harsh vocals or always using clean vocals. Also, the guitar riff underlying the clean vocals in this one sounds really good because it harmonizes with the vocals. Also, these are probably the best clean vocals I've heard from these clips.

section 5: no vocals here, props if this is an instrumental song because I am a big fan of bands having at least 1 instrumental song on an album.

Overall the only place I saw that might need some inprovement is some of the clean vocals. Sometimes they have a grungy sound maybe like nirvana or alice in chains, and you could make that work, but other times it seems like you're going for a more melodic vocal type, like in the first clip, and they don't seem to be quite meeting their potential there. I might suggest some vocal lessons for songs with a style more like that one, because I definitely see a lot of potential in the voice, whereas for the grungier clean vox it wouldn't be necessary. Other than that lil' complaint though the work is really good, you chose some good clips to put in this video. Keep makin' the epic guitar riffs.

Also, I put the vid up for my new song like you requested, it's a few posts up.

Good points and yes The Slaying Of Goliath will be instrumental. Some vocals can be reworked, I can do the voices better now that I have a melody established cuz when I first record them I only have a vague idea of what they would sound like in my head so sometimes the timing and harmony is off a bit. Anyways I can't wait to show more....

Saw the video, I can see some of the chrismasyness but it isn't obvious at first lol! ^_^

I was in kind of an animals as leaders / meshuggah type mood when i made this one, it's full of some weird rhythms and times, also it sounds pretty darn heavy considering it was just using an outdated GP5 without using RSE or anything.

Give it a listen, it's only a minute and a half. My favorite part is probably the riff from about :43 to about 1:00, with the random gallops and 5's.

Artificial Intelligence:

EDIT: Don't bother linking this in the original post, I'll probably make this track a lot better. i got all swept up when I first started making it, my songs always sound better to me at first than they do later on when I come back to them.

This was a song I conceived a while back, the guitars and vocals are recorded by me, but the rest is all MIDI:

Musing to an Experiment

It's a hard rock/metal song, with one or two hints of prog in there. Enjoy/tell me what you think if you can!

Not bad of a song, but the instruments are a little bit out of sync. The singing could use a bit of work though, sorry
