For those who haven't heard, a video game concert series titled "Play!" is premiering in Chicago, May 27th.
I got tickets myself and will be heading up for it after graduation.
It will feature music from the following games:

- METAL GEAR SOLID®
- THE LEGEND OF ZELDA®
- HALO®
- SUPER MARIO BROS.®
- CHRONO TRIGGER™
- CHRONO CROSS™
- WORLD OF WARCRAFT®
- KINGDOM HEARTS™
- SHENMUE™
- SILENT HILL®
- BATTLEFIELD 1942™
- SONIC THE HEDGEHOG™
The concert schedule is as follows:
- May 27 - Chicago
- Jun 14 - Stockholm
- Jul 12 - Detroit
- Jul 27 - Philadelphia
- Aug 04 - Vienna

Tickets are still available for all concerts except Stockholm.
The premier concert in Chicago looks like it will be quite an experience, it will feature music from BLUE DRAGON™ exclusively played at this concert only, and all of the following composers will be attending:

i had a prior post here, but i'm gonna completely rephrase it for the sake of civility and not sounding like a jerk/asshat.
Thats cool, i don't plan on attending it at all because it is of no interest to me because i think game music out of the game is out of place (unless it's a liscenced song fin a music game). If you guys are for that, more power to you.
As far as the concert itself is concerned, it's nice that they are appealing to the fans of the games by including the original composers. How they get the 16-bit music from back in the day to an orchestral score today is an interesting touch. |

I've prevously attended two Final Fantasy concerts. I really like Nobuo's composition style, he creates such distinct melodies. Years ago, I remember even playing FF1 on the NES in crappy 8-bit sound, I thoroughly enjoyed the songs. Now that it's being played by professional orchestras is very appealing to me. He's among the best composers in the world in my opinion. _________________

i guess it doesn't appeal to me because i'm not really a fan of any orchestral style music. I won't even be in chicago during that time so it's ok....i do plan though on working going to the Warped Tour or Ozzfest this yea |

After reading this post I got the Battlefield 1942 theme music into my head, and now I have an incredible urge to dust it off and start playing it again! It's neat how the composers have the ability to write music that fits a game so well that just thinking about the music has this effect. Personally I think this concert is a really cool idea, if it was coming to my town I would consider taking it in! _________________

Philidelphia isnt that far from you.
I sometimes stay at my parents house in Simsbury, CT, within half an hour of you, so I know the feeling though. |

Nothin in California I see...
Curses. I wanted to check these things out and see what they're all about. I've heard about them for a while but have never actually gotten to see what they're like. _________________
