Blind date!

So I'm heading to Tallahassee tomorrow, I'm meeting up with a buddy of mine to see GWAR on Saturday. Awesomeness!

Unfortunately, he forgot that he's going on a double date with someone tomorrow night, and I won't have anything to do. But, the good friend that he is, has asked one of his female friends to, and I quote, "entertain me" for the night.

This is very unique, because I've gone on many dates before, but as far as I can recall, I have never been on a blind date. I know nothing about her except her name, and she's part Latino. That's it.

Now I'm not asking you guys for advice, because I know what to expect. Be yourself, be interested in her, etc, although if you have something that you find really helpful, feel free to share. I'd like to know if any of you guys have interesting blind date stories. Did they go really well, or horribly wrong? Discuss!

Personally I have only been on two blind dates in my life. The first was through the internet, without having any knowledge of what the other girl looked like, and I knew very little about her in general. When I finally met her she was really, really good looking, and I highly doubted the night would go well because, frankly, I'm not the best looking guy in the world.

But that date is not why I responded.

Some time ago a friend of mine was seeing this really cute thin goth-looking girl, who said she had a friend that was looking for a new man and wanted some action. So I figured her friend would look similar in the least. The description I got was, she's short, as a nice ass, is funny and smart, and a great person.

Well it turns out, all of that was true. What she failed to leave out was that this girl weighed almost just as much as I do (a svelte, chubby-muscular 330lbs) and that she was EXTREMELY clingy, desperate, and depressed.

To make a long story short, I went on the date, and tried my best to look this girl in the eye, smile, be polite and keep my distance (the odor from her sweaty armpits made me want to vomit). The night concluded with a movie, with my friend and his skinny friend going to the back of the theater while me and the other girl went to towards the front, where she proceeded to try to hold my hand, lay her head on my shoulder and tell me her marriage and children fantasies.

I finally had enough and set the alarm on my phone, and when it rang I pretended it was a phone call and I left. What a nightmare.

This is just my experience. I hope yours goes a lot better than this one did.

never been on a blind date, but i have occupied friend's chick's friends as so they don't cockblock. usually ended up in a ... "so what do you want to do? i don't know, what do you want to do?" situation. and that leads to, well they're getting it on, we might as well too.

Frankie, tell me that the "330" was really "230" and you made a typo. Regardless, that blows and I feel bad for you. It's one thing to be overweight, but to lack basic hygiene is just unseemly.

i never had and could never go to a blind date. i guess im just more on the safe side. i would be to nervous to not know what to expect.
and i could never just pretend i didnt see the person if she wasnt my type, thats just a shitty thing to do.

Never have gone on a blind date because I think it would seem too awkward, having no prior knowledge of each other. Then again, this can also setup tons of questions and stuff that can keep the two interested. Hopefully it'll run smoothly for you.

Ho. Ly. Shit.

There aren't any words to describe or even thoughts to comprehend what happened on Friday. I'm in utter disbelief and total shock.

So I met up with my friend, John, in Tallahassee on Friday. We went to his band's practice, and the girl I was to meet up with, Karen, met up with us there. We decided to go to a pool hall to just hang out and drink. I go to her place, shower up, and then we go out. Well, it turns out she had some friends come along. OK, not a big deal. But she was initiating some contact, i.e. arm around the back, holding hands a couple times...some pretty good signs that could mean more later. We left the bar, arm in arm, and she calls my friend John. We're about to go hang out at his place. Not a problem.

We're sitting in the living room, and I'm close to her, and John goes upstairs to leave us alone. She mentions that she wants to watch a movie. I suggest we go back to her place, but she complains she doesn't have anything, and wants to watch one of John's movies. Does anybody see where this is headed yet?

She goes upstairs to John's room, and I hear the door close. Now, I thought they were gonna talk about me and what may or may not happen. 15 minutes go by, and she's still upstairs. I go up and knock, and find out the door is locked. Son of a bitch. Karen was fooling around with John. I was livid.

I start up my car, and John comes outside, asks what I'm doing, to which I ask the same thing. I spun out and left. Came back 15 minutes later, and I fix my myself a drink. He comes back downstairs and asks to talk outside. So I explained that it was a shitty move to fool around with the girl that I was not only hanging around with, but with the girl you set me up with. I knew they had a past before, but I thought it was tacky to do stuff while I'm IN THE HOUSE. I mean they couldn't have just waited a couple of days. I got pissed and threw my glass against the house. First time I've ever done that out of rage. So l I told him, "Tell her to leave, or I'm leaving."

I still can't get over this. I blew 50 bucks on her, she gave me the wrong signals, and then I find out that I was just a time killer for her so she could get to my friend. I just can't get over this. My ego has been shattered, my manhood questioned. I didn't have nearly as much fun at Gwar as I should have. I haven't been this depressed in a long time.

Needless to say, I rejected her Myspace and Facebook friend requests.

ouch man, that fucking sucks... theres not much that anyone here can say to fix the situation, you just gotta figure it all out for yourself... in my experience, ive noticed that 99.99% of the population have lacking morals like that, and it shits me to tears

But the big deal isn't how this girl acted; it's how your friend acted. That chick is just a bitch who should mean nothing to you; forget about her/get over her. Sure, she attacked your ego, but that damage only lasts if she means anything to you, which she shouldn't. Write her off and you're fine.

But your friend on the other had... I don't even know where to begin. HUGE violation of Man Law there, and on many different levels to boot. He still your friend?
