Since the 360 and the PC version are quite identical in almost everything, it's quite possible to add customs to the 360. Songs can possibly be added (or at least by replacing others) to the 360 DLC, which saves people from modding their 360.

At the moment the only thing that's stopping this is the fact that GH3 uses XMA (instead of mp3) audio format which is 360 exclusive and cannot be decoded on the PC. There are PC tools to make XMA (haven't tested them but they exist) but unless we decode one file we can't know how the wavebank is structured inside. Supposedly there is a file named xmaencode.exe that comes with the 360 XDK which can decode/encode the files on the PC, but I'm unable to get it.

Since I don't have a working 360, I'm unable to test anything so I leave the project for someone else to work on. The PC tools could be modified to edit the 360 game but until the XMA is cracked I don't see any point in working on it.

Any info that might help can be posted here. Please don't request anything yet.

About time a thread like this was made.

It seemed like I was the only one working on this :-

At present you can do -

1) Change notes of songs using the PC toolkit

2) View the contents of the song archives (but not extract)

I can write up an FAQ how to change song files but tbh it will ruin the scoreboards.

There is no other reason to change the notes without the song itself.

DLC content isn't moddable yet as it's signed.
Any changes to the file voids the checksum and the system ignores it.

Adding / Modifying the DLC will probably never be possible for the same reason the 360 hasnt been properly hacked.

It also validates whether you have purchased it over XBL whether its free or not

But ripping the DLC and adding it back in via a Custom copy of the game is relatively easy we just need somebody to slightly modify the PC toolkit.

I can privately send out the DLC files out to those that I believe will do something with it (not over ScoreHero obviously) purely for Educational purposes.

Here's a link to a nzb dl of the xdk. http://www.xbl-hackers.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=1365

Also there are only 2 people who can resign live files, which you need to mod dlc and thats roofus and angerwound. Yet they wont share any info about it, so the only way we could mod this one is by the disc data. Which is set up in some kind of raw .pak file sorta similar to pc. But as you said maxkiller the music is in a different format but the midi files are just the same, so if we could just make a byte swapper similar to gorby's we wouldn't have to crack the encryption.
But we would need the wierd xbox 360 song file format first
