Hi all,

I just did first run through of My Curse [Expert] (95% sightread O_o) and I just gotta say wow. Both my fretting hand and my strumming hand are feeling the burn as the saying goes. Fret-wise your fingers are moving all over the fretboard constantly and your strums are at constant fast pace pretty much throughout the entire song (except for the brief sections of galloping triplets).

Anyway, I'm thinking of using this song as an endurance builder for other fast paced songs. Has anyone used this song this way, or have I perhaps stumbled on to something somewhat new?

I don't play My Curse very often, my endurance builder is The Way it Ends. Knights of Cydonia also works.

Very good point about My Curse, I haven't played it much lately but you're right. Especially on the ending, I downstrum it and by the end, my hand is dead.

My strumming hand is fine, this only songs that really plays on my endurance are The way it Ends and Knights of Cydonia if I play them a couple of times.

However, the outro to My Curse brings me to the brink of my cramping tolerance every time on my fretting hand. It usually finishes just as I'm about to give into the pain. I have actually been meaning to take it to practice and trying to minimize my hand movement during it, so that I don't have to have it happen every time someone chooses it on pro-face-off.

My Curse can kill your fretting hand and, if you downstrum the whole ending, your strumming hand as well.

However, I have to agree that KoC and The Way it Ends work much better for strumming endurance.

I suppose you could look at it that way. I downstrum most of the song (the only parts I don't are the or any part similar.) Everything else in the song I downstrum (minus the fast whatever-it's-called parts that have 15 quick Y's, R's or G's.) I never really found a difference in my downstrumming endurance, since I've pretty much developed that as far as my body will let me. I've pretty much downstrummed anything that can be done that fast since the first GH.

I've used it more as a fretting exercise more than anything, and it actually looks FCable by my suck-tastic skills.

Yea the ending reminds me of Freya big time but I usually alt strum it to much success (98% on average for outro). The Way It Ends is much better then Knights of Cydonia to begin with. I'm using it as a way of training for Knights to be honest :P.

Step 1: Learn "My Curse" and don't kill your hand.
Step 2: Learn "The Way It Ends"
Step 3: Back to back for the KO in pro-faceoff!

The first few times I tried this on expert my hand hurt so bad it was just one of these songs where I just wanted to get through, never to be played again unless I think I can do better

But as an endurance builder? Who would've thought...

Oh and-

from what i can tell, i think knights of cydonia would be better; i altstrum my curse by default, but knights of cydonia's strumming is fast no matter how you cut it. plus the 'galloping triplet' section of knights is, i would think, as tiring as my curse. but that's probably because that when i play normal style i'm better at upscales than downscales.

but yeah i see your point...if you downstrum my curse and, like most people, find upscales more challenging than downscales, this would be a definite ball buster.
