That reminds me of a little incident that happened at my school recently :
Guitar Hero contest (me winning of course)
Organizer : "So do you do anything except playing Guitar Hero??!"
Everyone : "Hahahahahah"
Me : "I play Rock Band !!!"
Everyone : "......"
Good times... good times...

i usually dont talk about my GH skills at school but some sophomore was talking about how he was so awesome and how he could beat raining blood.... so i gave him my GT and we played after school.... It was pathetic how bad he was........... he was also like hax when i 600ked TTFAF. Anyway now my math class thinks im godly at GH and i was sleeping in class and the TEACHER said, "Now nick, if you were not playing GH so late maybe you wouldn't fall asleep in my class" lol that was a fun day.

I agree. Some people assume that if you're good at something that it's your life. As someone who has been in the top 15, I can say it takes a lot of work to get there, but after that, most players just coast and play hardly at all. ES when he was #1 would only play maybe 30 mins to an 1 hour a day if that. Of course, some people play more than that consistently, but really ability does not necessarily correlate with time played. I don't play that often for score, but more for fun. And, yes, I get that loserish thing too when I talk about it, but all I tell them is that they're the ones bringing up the game, not me. Unfortunately, that is the stigma with video games.....

And yeah, I mainly get teased only by my friends. And I'll get the occasional random person who comes up and asks "Are you really ranked like #10 in the world? And can you really get 97% on TTFAF?" Eh.......not quite.  People like to exaggerate, apparently.
Oh, and GH is pretty popular in my school, but there's only one or two who really could compete with me..... |

Well, one of my bestfriends is just about as good as me but I only have one class with him. Basically, no one really talks about GuitarHero except me, him and then this one kid who can't pass the Seeker on Expert. Anyone else either plays on Hard or less and so GuitarHero doesn't come up too much in my school life. Plus, even when it does, no one makes fun of me... they don't want to get beat up. 
Anyway, I got 274k with leftover SP on CoP... it was a very good run though and probably won't happen again until I practice the solos.

It is down to if you talk about it all the time! Im a bit below average for score hero, finished expert not passed TTFAF and nobody ever makes fun about it to me cause I barely mention it and only talk about it when asked about it!
Plus the drinkin sessions and all the rest! People know me less for games cause they all see me out havin a great time and being "normal"! Its all about what you do with yourself that'll give you your rep for GH! And I also play real guitar so most people assume its cause of that :-P!!
But really if people see you out and about and your just friendly with people even after a few drinks and dont mention GH at all they'll think more of you then "that no life guy who plays GH"!!
Sorry if that came out sounding harsh or offensive, its not meant to have any heat behind it so try not to flame plz! |

I had some of my Non-GH mates round the other day, I thought i'd have a little go whilst they were talking.
So tried Cult Of Personality and missed like 10 notes (My best run ever, didn't miss until like 2/3 through the 2nd solo).
They were like, "Woah, you're getting really good now. Bet that was a good score."
And just stuff like that really, I have played in my local game shop and played with a crowd around but never get any "You play too much!"
I'm probably just a exception!

This. Aside from Youtube, no one's ever made a snide comment about me playing the game and being somewhat good at it. Although I do have a retort prepared just in case someone ever does:
"Oh YEAH???"
...then I'll do the shakey-fist move at them until they get confused and walk away. That'll learn 'em.
