See topic title
My first Guitar Hero Tournament, I have little to no info about it besides that it is Guitar Hero 3
I'm bringing my 360 Les Paul just incase and will be asking about the tournament when I get in
Any tips? I don't have time to memorize star paths so I will just go with a
2-2-2-2-etc etc if I don't know it.
Any tips? |

Just relax, shred hard and have fun is probably the best advice I can give. As for the paths, you probably know the songs a little, so use your instinct, you won't get optimal for sure, if you have no idea, just 2-2-2-2 them, but you will probably do just fine. _________________

If the tourney is no hyperspeed, practice without it to make sure you can get adjusted quickly. _________________

Don't pick Cliffs of Dover without knowing how good the guy your facing is. I have done that WAY too many times _________________

^exactly this^
I normally play with hyperspeed 2 but I have a tournament in about 2 weeks and I plan on re-adjusting to regular speed soon because chances are they are going to bullshit about how hyperspeed is a "cheat".
Otherwise, just rock out. _________________

Alright well I got back from the tournament, second place -_-
It was hyperspeed allowed, single player scoring tournament. About 30 people showed up.
I was the first one to play since I was the first one to be there and chose One, since it was a scoring tournament.
I did horrible, only about 387K, but while playing the tournament advisors were praising me literally, "Oh we should definitely give him the prize now no one can beat him", "Jesus how is he doing that!", etc. etc.
After I finished I was praised like a God, then some other guy came up and was all quiet and just picked up the guitar, took off my hyperspeed, chose One...got 455K
They didn't praise him since mine was "faster" due to Hyperspeed 3.
I then tried TTFAF and embarassed myself completely, I passed the intro, FC'in it even, with ONE hand(which I never do), and fail during the fast strums
I was pissed, then the guy just came up, turned around, started TTFAF, tapped the intro and even played a few seconds into it backwards. Then he started dancing around for the rest of the song showing off.
They didn't really appreciate it much. After about 3 hours I was second place and he was still there showing off and being mean to the newbs.
It was a fun experience and would've been a LOT better if it wasn't for him. |

Glad you had a good time. There is an upcoming tournament here in Dallas soon, and there is no hyperspeed. *goes to practice* _________________

I suck doing alt strumming on the insanity under pressure too. I probably would have done Story of My Life or Cherub Rock but I give you props for TTFaF. _________________

You should've picked Number of The Beast. You can get almost 600,000 on that song without an fc. _________________

I was kinda thinking that too... #otB and Cherub Rock are the only one's I've +500k'ed, but I'm close on Stricken.
Glad you had fun. I have never done a tournament, but maybe it's something I should try. Are there any threads about tournament styles and tips? _________________

Sounds like it was fun, but I really don't think you should be getting mad at that guy for being really good. Isn't that what the tournaments for? Just to show off?
I mean if he was being a total dick and making fun of people, I'll give you that, but it sounds like he just did really good and decided to show off a little, which I think is actually pretty cool.
So if he was a dick, hate him, but if he was just good, then don't get mad at him for it. _________________
