I will give that a try, although I must admit I think I have everything so screwed up now I might just start over with a fresh install.

Do you have any idea what I could have done wrong to make it do that? I mean to have it work perfectly initially, but then be screwed up once it was closed and restarted? I thought I followed your tutorial to the letter, but I obviously messed something up.

One question: for the creation of the GH3 tracklist, is there any file movement that is needed? For example, do you have to "Copy Current GH Files to this version's folder " for the GH3 tracklist?

Also, and this may be a really stupid questions, but can I do the addition of tracklists one by one, instead of all at once? For example, can I just do the 80s tracklist, make sure it works, and then come back another time to do the GH1 tracklist?

Oh man! I forgot to mention that! Thanks

Sure you can. Just make sur to copy the GH3 Original files before and copy all version's files after

I tried again, just keeping it to 80s and GH3 this time. There is definitely a problem that occurs once the switcher program is closed and re-opened for me.

Once again, it worked perfectly when I tried it the first time. I went back and forth between 80s and GH3 multiple times, was able to play and save my games, etc. This time, when I closed the switcher and restarted it and tried to play either GH3 or 80s, the GH3 software didn't even boot all the way up. I got a message saying Guitar Hero has stopped working and needs to close. I've tried multiple times with the same result.

I'm running Vista, that could be an issue, I don't know. I made sure I ran the switcher and editor programs as an administrator. This time I tried the v0.22 Song Editor program instead of the latest version, guess it didn't make a difference. I'm bummed. This is the third time I 've tried it. I welcome any ideas, because I would love to run the program. From what I have had a chance to play of it, it's awesome.

I am Still getting the storage device in use error on gh2. I thought the switcher would solve this. I put in all the songs, and I rename them, I Go to the switcher, add the current game files, and then I play the game. I got that error again..

I also didn't upgrade to 2.1 or whatever, should I do that?

I'm also running Vista, it's probably not the problem. Your problem is really strange, I really don't know what to say... You could still try tu se the V1.41 of the Switcher, just to see. If you do so, rename the Switcher folder Bak. Also make sure the inside folder are called GH1, GH2, GH3, GH80 and GHCustom

Could you be more specific in the steps you made please?

Could you please post a screen of the folder tree and a more detailed tutorial for switching from version 1.4 to 2

Ok, I import all my songs to the songlist editor I Add them to the game using the setlist editor within the songlist editor. I go into the switcher make the new songlist, and the current gh files, add that version's files to the general folder, and whenever I try to play a song it crashes.

Have you saved in the editor before copying the files?

Before playing, you have to use the Copy All Version's Files

Just rename the Bak folder Switcher.
Then, in the Switcher, when you have to add tracklists, give them the same name as they alreasy got (gh1,gh2,gh3,gh80 and ghcustom) Only add the one you're using

That's what I was afraid of. And since nobody else reported a similar problem, there is probably no way to diagnose and fix it easily. I can't understand how it can go from working perfectly initially to not working at all simply by closing and re-opening the switcher. I wonder if there is something with permissions that I don't have set right? I hate how Vista is always asking for permissions to do this and that. I tried to run everything as an administrator, but I must admit I am very unknowledgeable about the whole Vista permissions setup. Is there some file that is written when the switcher is closed or opened that could be potentially affected by permissions? Are there hidden switcher settings anywhere (the registry?) that could be affecting anything since I have deleted and re-installed the program multiple times?

One more question - when all tracklists have been set up, just prior to using the "copy all version's files" option, should I use the "copy the GH3 Original files" option one last time? I did it, but don't know if it matters at all. I am pretty much grasping at straws here.

When I get a chance, I will try v1.41 as you suggested.

It does use the registry. Do you have a limited or administrator account? Also, for disabling the UAC, you can do it in the Control Panel, under the User option.

Doesn't matter at all

Hmmm... interesting - maybe we are on to something here. I wonder if there is some permissions thing getting in the way. I really need to learn about how all of these things work, because I honestly don't understand the Vista setup very well. I assume I am using a "users" account with administrator priviliges, but I always get that stupid UAC message whenever I try to install programs or move things around. Perhaps I should disable it and give it a try.

Yes, I did save

I did that, and it solved the crashing problem, but I still can't save.

This error occurs when you have to much songs related in your qb.pab.xen and qb.pak.xen files. Between the add, have you copied the Genral files to version AND then put back GH3 originals?

This is from first to last:

I did gh1, played it for a while, then got bored and wanted to play gh3. I then realized gh3 wasn't there. Moved the original files to gh3, and played. about a week later, I finally did gh2. I added it to the game by clicking add current gh files, then did the copy all to general folder. And Now here i am
