Kaiser here. This thread is being hijacked for all WWE discussion, since the WWE is cool and stuff. If NIN wants to edit the op, cool. I just wanted to change the title to be more appropriate.
----
So. It's the season to be jolly, WRESTLEMANIA SEASON!
I for one am excited as a little kid at Christmas, I actually remember being this excited when I was younger... the night of Wrestlemania 16, not being able to sleep because I had to go through school the next day, and then when I watched it... wow. Just wow. <3 HHH (Sorry kaiser).
Anyway, back onto WMXXIV, I made this thread hoping to get a nice discussion started on the big one. Predictions, what you're looking forward to, stuff like that. Please please please please please don't turn this into a one line style poll thread, because if this gets locked I know someone who knows someone who can hire the APA to open a can of ass whip on everybody. I think his name is KYJ or something.
Anyways, my predictions:
That Battle Royal Thingy - I think Kane has this won. Or at least, he should have this won, currently, imo, he's the biggest and best "never-was" that the WWE has. For christs sake, he shoulda won the rumble in 2001 (good grief that was an awesome rumble) and they coulda kept him up there with the best, and of course, he coulda kept his mask on instead of being in need of a reinvention >_> But yes, I think the WWE realise it's about time they did something with Kane. He was gonna feud with Edge last year, but that got shat on, because Adam Copeland has a girly pectoral muscle that can't stand a little Mardi Gras party >_>
Bunny Mania - Candice and Maria. Don't really need to explain it... But I will anyway. Candice is coming back from an injury, obv gonna get pushed to challenge Beth Phoenix, and of course, Maria has been getting pushed since doing playboy.
Money in the Bank - This is the toughie, it was almost a dead cert. that Jeff Harvey was gonna win this, but however, someone violated their drugs (or something along those lines ) and he's in danger of becoming the biggest never-was the WWE has had by sabotaging himself and getting fired like a complete jackass. But yes, i'm gonna have to go with Jericho on this one. It's too soon for MVP and Punk imo, and then there's the rest of the ECW guys... just no. Carlitwho? Yep, he's going nowhere... Kennedy.... won it last year. etc. I think they're gonna do with Jericho what they were gonna do with Jeff, just without the WWE Title reign, which might very well be a shame :/
Mayweather/Big Show - Well, seeing as Mayweather is getting 20 mil, I don't think he's going to lose. Also, I don't really care.
JBL/Finlay - Seeing as JBL is paying Vince 20 mil.. wait... Seeing as I couldn't care less about JBL in the ring due to the face he's he's lost his macho tash and his smile ( ), the fact he rarely goes over clean and his mic work, despite the latter being awesome (he's too good at being a heel) makes me detest him so (The character, not the real person, before you start.) I'm going to call on a double count out victory for Bret Hart via disqualification due to Diesel hitting the Jackknife on Hornswaggle. <--- that's how seriously i'm going to be watching that match.
WWE Title Triple Threat - Most likely the main event, because Mr Levesque is there (but one can hope it's not). As much as I love HHH... his backstage...ness... annoys the hell out of me. I'm predicting 3 good things to come out of this match, despite the fact that i'm not too fussed about 2/3 of the participants. The time seems right... for 3 things... Orton losing the belt, Cena returning the favour to HHH by putting him over, and HHH turning heel. If all 3 of those happen, AWESOME. However I don't think the latter will happen till after Backlash, because Orton will need his return match, and they don't do heel on heel.
HBK/Flair - This match is gonna be awesome. There's no two ways about it. HBK, one of the best in ring performers of all time... miiiiiles better than that big pink and black wearing big headed nobhead called Bret Hart (yes, I said it), who might I add is probably the best face on the mic right now, with the exception of probably Jericho; vs the wheelin' dealin, zimmerframe stealin' (and the rest) Nature Boy, who despite being 59, is still a fucking legend in the ring. This match is gonna go the distance, there's gonna be tuning up the proverbial band, there's gonna be WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'s! there's gonna be some dramatic counter into the figure-four, possibly a sharpshooter, a crip---errrrr a crossface, and anklelock. Most people think HBK is gonna win, I mean, it'd be so fitting for Flair to retire, I also think HBK is going to win, however some genius has started a rumour on the grapevine that Flair is going to win, I mean of course people are unconvinced of said rumour, but at least it adds some uncertainty, for me it has at least. I REALLY cannot wait for this match.
Undertaker (FUCK YEA SEAKING!) vs Edge - This match... this will be even better than Flair HBK. I may be biased. I've always loved Edge, and i've always loved Taker, infact, Taker is the best of all time... in my opinion anyway. I would also think that the common opinion is that these two very fine "young" (I use young loosely) gentlemen are the two best in the business at this moment in time. On any occasion other than WM XXIV I'd say this match should be the main event hands down. However, if this is indeeds Flairs last night wrestling, i'd suggest otherwise, anyway... This one is kinda hard to call for me, Edge has never been beaten at mania... Taker has won all 15 matches he's had at Wrestlemania, the only thing that I think will taint this match will be the commentary. For example:
Michael Cole: OH MY GODDD!!!!! SNAKE EYES!!!! THAT IS VINTAGE UNDERTAKER!!!!!
Coach: If Undertaker wants to win he's going to have to beat Edge.
Michael Cole: BIG BOOT!!!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN BATISTA DO THAT IN MY LIFE!!!!!
Coach: But that's not Ba-
Michael Cole: OH MY GOD A MODIFIED ENZIGUIRI INTO A MODIFIED TRIANGLE CHOKE!!!!!! WILL EDGE TAP OUT?!?!?!?!?!?!
^ See what I mean? It's almost nauseating. However, if they're both on form, and they fucking best be, then it should be bearable, and mildly entertaining; plus hopefully Cole won't mention the fucking streak every two minutes...
"OH MY GOD! EDGE LANDED THE RIGHT FIST!!!! THE STREAK IS OVER!!!! *one..* AND A KICKOUT!!!!!"
As far as the match goes, the two best in the buisness, at Wrestlemania, for the title... What can get better? Nothing. Unless... I dunno.... Taker vs Diesel at Mania 12 >_> No, I think this'll easily top this as my favourite match of all time, unless my "query" proves correct, in which case i'll probably stop watching TV, nevermind Wrasslin, for the duration of my natural born luvfaffer.
But yes, that's just about all I have to say for now... You can tell i'm excited right... :p but anyway, discuss away!
Oh lawd, I forgot about Jamal vs good ol' Dave Tista. Umaga will win. Well, if he doesn't, i'll cry. It just seems to me that a Batista match is never interesting/exciting unless it's against someone called The Undertaker, or someone called Montel Vontavius Porter. However, I think this match could be really good, and it could help propel Umaga into a more solid main event status, because he could definitely do it, I think.
Also, here's to hoping for a Umaga/Batista swap in the draft.

Write a novel why don't ya.
Note: I'm a huge wrestling fan, and I refuse to let this thread get out of hand. Stay on topic or gtfo.
My thoughts on mania will come later, probably tomorrow. _________________

Ugh. I haven't watched wrestling for three weeks because this feud is making me physically ill.
And besides HBK/Flair and the always-awesome Money in the Bank match, I have no desire to buy this year's Wrestlemania...which is a first for me as I usually watch it ever year. Sigh.
(Well, the Triple Threat could be cool too...but the ending is so damn predictable that I feel that there's no point in even watching it.) _________________

Im pissed that Jeff Hardy is suspended.
Anyway I cannot wait for Undertaker to own Edge. R.I.P. Edge.
Also can't wait for BunnyMania
Overall I hope it is as good as No Way Out 2008. That was Awsome. _________________

I want to see Triple H get hit in the face with something, Cena win the belt from Orton, and have Cena turn heel. He's a natural at it.
Undertaker should go over Edge.
No clue who should win MITB.
Big Show better beat Mayweather, if he doesn't I'm gonna be pissed at someone in those offices.
I know Flair is gonna lose, I still hope he sorta doesn't though. <3 Flabman
And, since I haven't been following for a while, I don't know ANY other matches. That's my opinion for what is bound to be the worst WrestleMania yet. |

The two guys on my shoulders are arguing over Cena and HHH. Fuck Orton, though. He's got no shot. As for Mayweather/Big Show, Mayweather will probably win but that's fucking stupid. Flair is gonna lose, Undertaker is gonna win, Maria is gonna win. The announcers will suck balls and make it seem even less realistic.
Pretty much sums it up.
edit: Umaga ftw. _________________

I really do not like Flair matches at all. To much of "whoops, gotta be careful so I don't kill him" coming from the opponent. I think a final victory from wrestlemania would be a good note to retire on though. |

Well, I personally think Orton is a very good wrestler on the whole, but his mic skills are lacking, they've just took a shitty direction with his reign - a champion who has to cheat to win... fucking bullshit. But I do think that where he is today is partly to do with his heritage, he shoulda had a 30 day suspension for drug violation, but no, he was the #1 contender, so he got away with it.
That said, Cena... I personally think that if he didn't make all the little girls come to his yard and buy his milkshakes and his merchandise and his "MY LIFE " DVD, he'd possibly not even be a mid carder. His matches for the most part are more formulaic than a tag team match, it's only once every so often that he pulls out an awesome match, the last one being at Summerslam vs Orton. I fucking loved that match, Orton carried it, I will admit, then of course, from out of nowhere FU, end.
Also, EYYYYYAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! SAMOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \m/ Davetista is gonna get lolowned.

Lately, i've seen them pick up a hell of a lot. His match vs HHH was fucking awesome, despite it ending the way it did. For 59 he's in incredible physical condition, you're really not giving him enough credit :p |

God I really, really wish I would have paid attention to wrestling this year. I stopped watching after WM23 for some reason, and things seem to be getting more interesting now. Nice to see Y2J back in the ring.
But honestly, Undertaker vs. Edge is gonna be fucking amazing, calling that right now. But knowing Vince, for whatever reason, this match is gonna be mid card and cut short for whatever reasons, like Undertaker-Batista last year (which would have been the best match if it was like 5-10 minutes longer). |

1) John Cena carried the Great Khali to a decent match. He doesn't suck.
2) Ric Flair is the greatest ever, and I will accept nothing less. Go watch Steamboat/Flair and tell me he's not amazing.
Predictions/Thoughts on Mania:
I mentioned this in another thread somewhere, but the Mayweather/Show angle got botched pretty hard. I don't think they were expecting Mayweather to get the heat he did, but then they just totally ruined how to fix it. However, the whole "throw Mayweather out of the ring" thing DID get them on ESPN, so it's not all bad. I couldn't care less who wins the match.
Flair/HBK: It does seem that the obvious answer is for Flair to lose, which I agree with. Hopefully Shawn can keep the match interesting, as Flair's last match deserves to be a great one. I'm really looking forward to this, and hope it's the main event match.
Cena/Orton/HHH: I'm really hoping this isn't a "one guy gets knocked out while the other two fight" rotation type of match. I don't know how excited I am for this, but I think it's blatantly obvious that HHH is going to win this match. He's gone quite some time without the gold, and god only knows that can't happen for the golden boy.
Edge/Undertaker: Outside of Flair's match, this and the money and the bank are the two matches I'm the most excited about. Undertaker has said quite a few times that he's willing to drop the streak, but I'm not sure if Edge needs that kind of rub at this stage in his career. I expect a good match out of these two, and expect Undertaker to go over.
Bunnymania: Wow do I not care.
Batista/Youmanga: I HAVE NEVER SEEN BATISTA DO THAT IN MY LIFE! Please don't let Michael Cole announce this match.
Money in the bank: Wow am I torn on this match. There's a few people who have the possibilty of winning, depending on where the WWE wants to go with everything. I'm really torn at who I expect to win. I DO expect it to be a great match with some awesome spots, given the roster involved (And don't count out Carlito, he can throw in some awesome spots when he wants to). I really have no prediction, but I think the safe bet is Chris Jericho.
JBL/Finlay: The build for this match is terrible, but I'm sure the two of them will put on a good fight. I'd expect Finaly to go over.
A lot of this wasn't really built right, and Mania is kind of teetering on "just another PPV" rather than the PPV of the year, but I'm still excited for it. Hopefully it exceeds my expectations. At least Bobby Lashley isn't on the card. _________________

Kaiser, it's Finlay. ;P
Anyway, what's Bunnymania? Is it another one of those horrible matches with the whorish "divas" who happened to have posed for Playboy?
Oh, and Youmanga FTMFW. |

I haven't watched wrestling in a long time, and I used to be a big fan of it. It tapered off at some point in high school, and I don't know any of the backstories or why some people are antagonists when they used to be the good guys, and vice-versa...sorry, I should use the industry terms of "heel" and "baby face."
But, there is still a part of me that is intrigued by wrestling, and nothing beats watching either A) Any Royal Rumble live, or B) My Undertaker DVD that includes the infamous Hell-in-a-Cell match with Mankind. I can watch that match over and over again.
SO, are there in stipulations in the Undertaker/Edge match, and the HBK/Ric Flair match, or are they just straight up wrasslin' matches with no gimmicks?
...And Mayweather, as in Floyd Mayweather the boxer, is in a wreslting match? Who the heck is Finlay? I must be really out of it. _________________

Undertaker/Edge is a clean championship match.
The stip for Flair/HBK is that if Flair loses, he has to retire. _________________

I find it hilarious that Mr. rant-a-lot himself said "Write a novel why don't ya." >_>
It's amusing. Last week was the first time in probably 3 years that I've missed both Raw and Smackdown in the same week, and yet I was rather "meh" ish about it. I still haven't even read up on what exactly happened on both shows last week, and don't care enough to check at the moment. I'm still pretty damned excited about Wrasslemania though
Anywho, randa-thoughts:
Money In Da Bank: You know what I'd LOVE to see in this match? A backstabber from the top of a ladder. That would be just super
Anywho, with Jeffery being an idiot and ruining probably the best run he'll ever have in his WWE career, this match is thrown wide open. I would lean towards a Y2J victory, but here's hoping for an awesomesauce match, which it should be given the calibre of talent sitting in this match-up.
Big Show/Mayweather: Well, it was nice seeing Big Show return out of nowhere. I lol'd at him getting his nose legitimately broken upon return though. He was looking pretty damn good on that return though... well until the blood started pouring out of his nose >_>
As for the match itself, whatever. Hopefully it ends quickly. Just curious as to whether Big Show can extend his number of Wrestlemania victories to 2 or not...
HBK/Flair: This should be a very interesting match-up. Can't see Flair's career ending here at all.
Bunnymania: ZOMG, the same chicks we've been staring at for the past couple of years... Obliga-toilet break yay!
Finlay/Jibble: There'll be a lot of blood (hopefully). Yay!
Batista/Umaga: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SAMOA!!! I'm hoping for a Samoan bulldozer victory Dunno about match quality though, with Davetista.
Taker/Edge: This is one match I'm really looking forward to. Can't imagine that Edge will retain at all, which makes me a sad panda as an Edgehead Should be an awesomesauce match up though.
Orton/Trips/Cena: Along with Edge, Orton is my fave wrestler in the DubyaDubyaE. And unfortunately, he probably won't be leaving wrestlemania with the title either
Trips probably should win the title, which would bring up the interesting point of Cena being the first Rumble winner since.... Vince (?) to not win the title at Wrasslemania I think (even though Cena used his title shot at NWO, and Vince didn't exactly wrestle in his corresponding WM either I don't think >_>).
Heh, my two fave wrestlers losing their world titles to NIN's two fave wrestlers. Go figure.
Announcers/botchfest: After the Rumble's epic "Montel Vontavious Porter. M. V. T." and Lillian Garcia putting on a similar performance at No Way Out, I think the announcers can step up their game and come through strong at 'Mania.
Commentators/suckfest: JR and the King will turn up and put on a show, but dunno about them Smackdown announcers. Here's hoping Cole (modified *insert move here*, this could be it!) and Coach (OMG WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU COMMENTATING? please go away from the commentary desk, please?) can... err... not suck >_>
*misses JBL on commentary *
Did I miss any match ups? Probably did. Probably also means I don't care for said match ups.
This Monday is actually the first time I've asked for a specific day off work in a while, and its all because of Wrestlemania LULZ. _________________
