Just wanting to know who here avidly plays golf when weather permits.
How often do you play during the golf "season"?
Whats your average score, or handicap if you've calculated one?
What kinda equipment do you use?
Play any exotic or well known golf courses?
Me? On average I play 3-4 times a week during the Spring and Summer months, occasionally playing almost every day during some stretches.
I average scores in the low 80s on 18 holes with a handicap of about 11.
My current setup includes: TaylorMade Burner-Bubble(shaft) Irons (yes I need new clubs I know... *eyes a set of Titleist 755 irons on the wall of my local Golfsmith store*) a 2005 Cleveland Launcher 460 Driver, TaylorMade V-Steel Woods, New 2008 Cobra Baffler 3-iron Hybrid, Titleist Vokey Design Wedges (54º and 60º lofts), Taylormade AGSI Daytona I putter. I generally play with Titleist NXT Tour golfballs with the occasional box of Pro-V1's. I stuff all of that into a Sun Mountain MPB bag.
Some nice/exotic courses I've played include the Crystal Golf grouping of courses in Vernon, NJ. A few nice courses in Florida. Probably the best was when I got to play the Stadium Course At TPC Sawgrass.
Post your personal bests too, or anything you deem interesting.

To ANY of you who think/say that golf isn't a sport... BURN IN HELL! To those that play and love the game like I do... FORE!!!!!

I play golf, well used to...haven't had the time or money to play in a good while. I played some over the summer and did alright.
I'm generally around a 11-12 handicap...started playing my Sophomore year, never had picked up a golf club, but around my Senior year was shooting low 40's for the golf team. I really enjoy it when I can play in a stress-free fun environment.
As far as equipment...I've only played with hand-me-downs. When my friend got kicked off the team I played with his Maxfli somethings...they were pretty good.
I'd like to make a trip up to Chicagoland and play a round with SArmstr0ng sometime. _________________

I play it myself, but I don't consider it a sport. It's not really physically demanding enough to be classified as a sport. However, it is a damn fun hobby.
Don't hate me.
I usually get mid 90's whenever I play. _________________

Well A broad definition of a sport is an an enjoyable activity with a clearly defined goal. Hunting, fishing, boating, target shooting, all not very physically demanding yet still considered sports. To rebut your arguement more specifically. Golf IS quite physically demanding, the Golf swing requires just about every part of your body to work in unison. Getting that to work correctly is the demanding part... However lets not turn this into a debate about what a Sport is defined as.

I love golf. I actually work at a golf course (during the season obviously), so free golf there for me
It's a fancy pants golf club so its really high quality and very challenging. Unfortunately I'm not very good and can't afford anything but crap clubs from the rental clearance sale at the end of the year, but my score on a good day is around 100 at that course. On an average course its usually around 95.
As much as I suck at it, it's always good fun to go out, grab a beer and smack some balls around (said in the most heterosexual manner possible). _________________

I used to play golf [I still do occasionally.] and I've got my swing still [well for the most part. I think GH might have helped out with my right arm muscle strength.] The last time I played however, I did horrible seeing as it was my first time in a few years [Played last aug.] The first time I played golf I was 8 and made it with a partner to the final rounds of the tournament [First tournament, then judges pick 2 teams [of 2] and they go to an extra few rounds and whoever had the lowest score [obviously] won.] Unfortunately we got 2nd, but it was alot of fun.
Even if it was in 90-100 degree weather. [Damn sacramento.]
I dont think Ill try for JV Golf team though this year... _________________

I'm a cart guy at a nice country club, so I can play whenever I want for free...so I try and get out at least once a week, regardless of season. I haven't checked my handicap in a while, but if I had to guess, I'd go with 12. I have a Snake Eyes 600T driver, an old Callaway knockoff (I think it's a Leyland) 3 wood, Ping Eye 2 orange dot irons, a Cleveland 60 degree wedge that I bent down to a 58, and an Odyssey DF 990 putter.
My dad is a Golfsmith certified club maker, so rather than buy clubs off the rack, he orders the individual parts and puts them together. Reason I mention that is because I'm a lefty, and it's especially difficult to find a wide variety of lefty clubs in a store.
As far as balls go, I play whatever I find. The head pro at the country club told us all we could keep whatever nice balls we find in the range baskets...Our driving range runs parallel to the first tee, so we find a lot of nice balls that somebody hooked or sliced right out of the sleeve.
I will say that I really enjoy the Callaway HX Hot balls...they're the orange ones.
Edit: Golf can be physically demanding when you're walking 36 holes in the high school regional championships. I always hated playing in that. |

13 handicaper here. living in Quebec though the season isn't really long for golf, so when it does come I try and play twice a week. As for equipment I have an old (5 years) set of Wilson Pro Staffs, but I'm going to buy a new set at the end of the upcoming golf season, since most of the proshops have wicked deals in october. _________________

I play around 5-10 times every summer. Even then half of those rounds are just the front nine. I get quite proud of myself when I make a par. Birdies are a cause for celebration of a magnitude just under my birthday.
Most of the time a golf club is in my hands I'm not actually playing a round. My dad built a mini-green in the middle of our backyard, so I work on my short game whenever I'm home. When I'm with my friends, it's off to the driving range we go, trying to nail the car in the middle of the field and having longest drive competitions. _________________

I used to be an avid player golf, but now I'm happy if I get out on the course at least once a summer. My handicap sucked (up around 40 on average), but I always had fun. Maybe I should try and join SArmstrong's Roughriders.... |
