I have a suggestion, and I don't think it's been raised here before. (I searched around and couldn't find anything, if this has already been discussed than my apoligies)

Anyways, I think someone should try to figure out if it would be possible to have a custom GH game acually create a new memory card file. I'm not a programmer really, but i'm guessing that the file on the memory card is saved with some sort of name, and if we could figure out how to edit that, perhaps we could get the custom game to save an entire new file by adding a letter or number at the end of it.

This would serve several purposes. First of all, we wouldnt have to worry about saving over the high scores of the original songs because the custom replacement has much more point potential. Secondly, I am trying to replace every song to make like a GH v2.1 sorta thing. If i could have 2 seperate files on the card, than I could play and unlock the customs through career as if it was en entirely new game.

I think its a sweet idea.

Why not just create a new band?

Creating a band is fine, but that would still mess up your high scores. Every time I play, I leave the memory card in until it loads, then I take it out, then I turn off autosave. Works for me.

Only the toilet high scores, not the career mode high scores.

And when you and a bunch of friends play, the toilet scores are all that matter.

So why wouldn't you want to show off your 400,000 on Jordan? ;)

yeh, creating a new band would solve part of the issue but not all. Theres still the problem of the toilet high scores, as they were called.

I'm gonna try and look into this but I have no idea where to start. Where on the GH DVD do you think that information might be located? would it be accessible through GHex, perhaps?

I don't think that is going to be something any of us are going to be able to do, the save system is hard coded. Even trying to do it would be pointless.

Here's what you can do though; use a second memory card.

My two suggestions for the two things:

1. Do what I do, put in without a memory card, and use the unlock all code. I do that so there is NO possible way for it to fuck with my data.

2. Getting a new memory card would probably be much much easier than trying to hack a new memory card slot for your GH v2.1
