When you highlight a song, the preview plays. If your custom song isn't long enough to contain that part, it freezes. Before I start cutting it close, is there a list of the times they start/end? Or is there an easy way to view it?

I never had that problem, if it was too short, it just wouldn't play anything, but it didn't lock up, I was able to play the song. This happened in GH1 with Trippolette and GH2. _________________

There is no listing available that I know of. If someone were to compile one, that would be a valuable resource indeed.

A tip would be to record yourself counting minutes and seconds and replacing all the songs with that, then just go through the menu and write down the start/stop times of all the previews. _________________

That's a good idea, but I think I'd die of boredom making/using that. Import vgs, replace, replace, replace... Then, to go through each song and write it down. Maybe some day...

I don't have the song preview locations, but I compiled a list of all the song times.
If your song is longer than the one you're replacing, you're good. If it's shorter, it may lock. Doesn't have to be perfect, but I wouldn't replace Freebird (9:18) with The Immigrant Song (2:25) - you're asking for trouble.
Use this list to try to always make sure the song you're importing is longer than the song you're replacing.

You can stick a shorter song in most slots even if the original song is longer, it just won't play the preview. The only exceptions I have found so far are:
Freya
Gemini
These are the only songs that I have found to lock up when the song is too short, there may be others, but I haven't fully experimented. Perhaps others will help me populate this list. |
