the problem i have with naruto is that it just keeps going, filler and all. if it had an ending, it could go out in its prime and become legendary like Bebop or FMA. (admittedly FMA deviated from the manga, but at least it wasn't filler) |
Interesting point. I suppose you'd say the same for the DB/DBZ/DBGT series since the description also fits with it being really really long and having too much stalling and filler.
But what about something like Inuyasha? I don't think that series suffered the same drawback as other extremely lengthy series. There were even four movies. Hmmm... it'd be interesting to compare them. What are other very long series? No others really come to mind... Oh, there's Macross 7 which I haven't seen yet, I just recall it's over 40 episodes long. But that's nothing compared to IY's 167 or DB's.. umm.. several hundred?!?
EDIT: IY doesn't even have an ending. Funding ran out so they made 166/167 an hour-long special and made a short thank-you note at the end for the audience's support and that was pretty much it. |

I'm in the middle of the first season of Code Geass.
Anyways, this is all I have in my collection as of now:
Before I started the folder I had watched the first part of Naruto up through the fillers and continued after the timeskip and lost interest about a year ago, around the first 80 episodes of Bleach, Haruhi, Azumanga Daioh, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, and possibly other things I forgot about. |

I liked Naruto, and even stuck with it through the 4+ seasons of filler after the chuunin exams....but when there was an episode of shippuudden where LITERALLY NOTHING HAPPENED for an entire episode, I stopped watching. And yeah, I hate DBZ with a passion for the same reason. Naruto is a great story that suffers from its own popularity unfortunately. They're trying to draw it out as long as they can in order to keep making money off of it and it's really hurting the series imo.

yeah, I watched all the fillers... and waited for so long for that magical date- Feb. 15... (I also got my braces off that day, lol) but i actually haven't watched shippuden until recently, instead I've been reading the manga (no filler ftw!)
and I remember my friend saying there was some show about baking bread that was even better than naruto, I assume that's what Yakitate! is? _________________

My anime collection is small.
Since we're on the subject of anime here's an outdated picture of my figures:
@mac081793
it's called bokusatsu tenshi dokuro-chan |

I used to be into Naruto, which I first started on 6 years ago. That was really the first anime show I got into. I know of a lot of popular and mildly-unpopular ones, but I'm usually not too into them. My sister's in a college anime club and my other sister's an admin at a popular internet forum related to anime, so there's a lot of that going on in my family.
So, has anyone else ever seen or read Reborn! before? My sister's convinced it'll be the next Naruto, says it's rapidly rising in popularity. |

I was into anime a lot, but schoolwork and exams got in the way,so I had to set work first ofcourse, and I totally drifted away from it, and no longer became an anime fan..
I dunno if that would be a good thing or a bad thing for you anime fans out there... _________________

That's exactly what Yakitate! Japan is =)
Honestly I nearly fell out of my chair laughing a few times watching it. I still laugh when I remember some of the reactions from that show (crab bread ftw!). Seriously, anyone that enjoys goofy kind of humor, WATCH THAT SHOW, you will laugh harder than you ever thought possible. _________________
