Video Game Banners (Now on the Wiki!)

A YONS run basically embodies this:

Yuna must be the only character in battle whenever possible. All other characters must continually escape, or during unescapable fights they must attack themselves (not each other) or continually change weapons.

Yuna is the only character permitted to perform any action in battle or equip any item that affects any character or enemy. No Initiative, no First Strike, hell no SOS NulTide for anyone who isn't Yuna.

During the points in the game during which Yuna is unavailable, you can break the above rule, but no character other than Yuna may touch the Sphere Grid at any point.

For the tutorial battles, you may do as you please (though instantly dismissing Valefor during the first Garuda tutorial battle is encouraged).

There is one exception to the Yuna-Only, No Summons rule where the game does not force you to summon: this is the very first fight with Sin, aboard the SS Liki. It is impossible to get past this fight without either breaking this rule, or fully completing Yuna's portion of the Grid before leaving Besaid. Yeah, ouch >_> 99% of YONSers, myself included, conveniently forget it's technically possible to win this fight without summoning or using other characters. Because we don't have literally thousands of hours to grind :P Not to mention, it would make most of the rest of the game absurdly easy to level for Holy at this point, because Yuna would be dodging every attack and getting far too many turns to ever die until about Macalania time.

Also, if you're looking to endgame the run (which I will), it's impossible to beat Dark Yojimbo without summoning in the fourth fight to block his Overdrive. If I recall correctly.

All other points which require absurd amounts of levelling (Sinspawn Gui, Anima) must be ground as necessary, without summoning.

You may not fight Belgemine's Aeons to get the rewards from fighting them (this means no Nirvana in the endgame).

You may acquire Yuna's secret aeons, but you may not use them.

I'm about 200 hours in and grinding Macalania to learn Holy before fighting Seymour for the first time

I've actually nearly finished the run, in terms of pure time.

Serious advice now: No-one likes indecision in their work, so find what you like that you're even remotely good at, and stick with it.
