|
|
I am starting a new paint job for the Diver Down album from Van Halen. It is going to be on the TAC Flying V. I took it apart, took EVERYTHING out (yes, even that IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE GLUE OFF power switch.) I took off the faceplate, then I looked up Van Halen guitars. I chose the Kramer Diver Down one. I sketched it and taped and spray painted. But I have to go to bed, I'll finish it tomorrow. _________________

It turned out nice, but my camera won't hook up to my PC to get pics. I need to borrow a different camera. Pics will probably come tomorrow or later today.
EDIT: Here are the pics.
Body:
Solo Frets:
Lower Frets:
Back of the neck (It has red spots, I held the Spray can up high and sprayed):

You should repaint that.
Those bad spots all over are pretty unsightly.
Just sand down the bad spots and add another coat, it should look fine after that. _________________

Yeeeeeeaaaaah. I noticed those, but I think it is the paint, not the guitar, the white paint was perfect! (For a first paint job) _________________

What happened is the red raised the white paint underneath causing the ugly spots. Only way to fix it is to strip the paint use a red and white paint that compatible with one another. If you use krylon for white use krylon for red. Other than that it looks good. _________________

I think I just used the wrong type of paint. I put on WAAAAAAAAAY too much in all the coats anyway. _________________

This is going to sound mean, but I would strip off all the paint and redo it.
You put on WAY too many coats, and it looks thicker in some places than in others.
Take it apart, especially the neck, so you don't get the red spots again.
But, as I learned, MAKE SURE THE GUITAR IS 10000000% DRY BEFORE HANDLING IT.
I thought it was dry, but fingerprints are left all over it now. |

Dude the body is OK but the neck sucks. Just do the neck again and you will be alot more happy when you have a good paint job on your guitar.
How long were you painting it anyway?
Just remember the key to a clean and nice paint job is just taking alot of time. |

It took a couple days.
I don't even know why I painted it. I mean, it's unusable because the frets stick, I'm never showing it to anybody except people here, and I can't find the wireless receiver _________________

calm down its only a plastic guitar. how much did you buy it for $20? its not a big deal. i mean its your first try on a paint job. i think its safe to say that most people's 1st paint job is not too good. its not that bad either. just be glad its not a real guitar that you spray painted. (jeeze i would die if my strat was spray painted |
